Whatever happened to that imminent invasion of Iran?
Were the people predicting it wrong, or is World War III less important than tax rebates, Hillary vs. Obama, and other topics which have dominated discussion here in the last couple of months?

3. It was never described as an invasion...
...from all accounts, it was to be a bombing campaign against susspected nuke sites. But, I get your point. Iraq has convemiently dropped off the news radar, as well.:(

9. The same thing that happen to the implementation of martial law and the suspension of the elections
2002, 2004, 2006 and, I'll bet anyone a donation star, 2008.

Some people make predictions because doing so is free and it makes them feel smart. Very similar to conspiracy theorist.

13. I saw Scott McClellan speak last night and he said
that the NIE is a total lie that probably originated in Cheney's office. He predicts (and he was right about Iraq when everyone said he was nuts) that the NIE almost ensures that there will be a war with Iran probably within two to four months from now. He said that the U.S. is building hangars on the island of Diego Garcia so that they can accommodate bombers equipped w/ bunker busting weapons. He points to the 2006 National Security Strategy, in which Iran is mentioned 14 times as the biggest threat to the U.S., as more evidence that the Bush administration is intent on going to war with Iran. Ritter said that our military is too spread out for another ground war and nuclear weapons will be used by the U.S.

If he's right, we need to mobilize NOW to stop this.

14. He's a bit behind the times...
Diego Garcia has hosted big bombers for decades (in fact, "Coalition aircraft at Diego Garcia dropped more ordnance on Taliban and Al Qaeda forces in Afghanistan than any other unit during the war on terror," according to Global Security.org)

The hangars they are building have been in the works for most of this decade, having been started at least back in 2002. I think he's mixing and matching some pre-existing facts to support his position.

21. It's still in the works.
There were some who said that US would eventually invade Iraq after the First Gulf War.

It took a while, but they were correct.

The Powers-That-Be are significantly more patient & foward thinking than your average Joe.

25. Bolton, Podhoretz, and Cheney are all still calling the NIE a politicized fable
And making sure everyone knows nothing has been removed from that table, anyway.

My guess is Israel will stage a 'surprise' attack this summer, followed by US bombing to "support our allies"
