Has anyone been listening to the Air America Program "Clout"? Lately, it has been running some kind of contest to give kids scholarships, the top prize being $40,000. The kids have to write some incredibly short sound bite statements, and the idea is to capture some kind of essence like Martin Luther King.
Frankly their “poems” are vacuous and generally bad (IMHO).
The part about this that is most disturbing is that the host is constantly boasting about how it is Lockheed Martin and a couple of other completely evil companies that are sponsoring the event. I have little hope therefore that any of the kid's statements will be anti-war, etc.
The host of Clout doesn't seem to think that there is any problem with this, he has no awareness of the outrageous conflicts of interests; he frequently thanks Lockheed Martin for their generous support.
Has anyone else noticed this or is it just me?
