McCain Says Clinton Would ‘Surrender’

By The New York Times
John Mccain - The Caucus - Politics - New York Times

Senator John McCain launched into a pointed critique of his Senate colleague Hillary Rodham Clinton today, saying that “for the first time in political history” a presidential candidate has called for outright surrender in a war.

“Candidate Clinton has called for surrender and waving the white flag,” he said during an appearance in West Palm Beach. “I think it’s terrible. I think it’s terrible.”

His remarks come as he is campaigning hard in Florida, hoping to defeat Rudolph W. Giuliani and keep the momentum from his victory last Saturday in South Carolina. In his remarks, he seemed to suggest Mrs. Clinton would be the nominee, and was perhaps using her as a vehicle to rally Republican voters in the run-up to the primary.

“I look forward to the debate with Senator Clinton on that issue. Americans don’t want to throw away the hard-earned gains we have made against Al Qaeda and Iraq. If Senator Clinton has her way, Al Qaeda will trumpet to the world that they have beaten the United States.”

“For us to do what Senator Clinton wants us to do — that is to wave the white flag -– I cannot guarantee United States security in the region or in the United States.”

1. You don't fight a "war" with criminals.
You hunt them down and arrest them. Treating AQ like they're a military threat just feeds them. Why can't these neocon assholes get that?

5. Exactly. I guess in a way it's good to see the Rethugs showing their arses to soon in the race
Sen. 100-years-in-Iraq McCain certainly is a case in point here.

2. She does realize it can not be won
militarily. Al Qaeda will only be hampered by police action. Diplomacy with other countries is the other aspect of acquiring assistance in rooting out AQ. They are everywhere. Our troops are holding down violence in the "surge". Yes. But that is like holding down a bunch of hornets under a glass and needing a drink. At some point, you need to lift the glass. What are our troops supposed to do, Mr. McCain???

4. McCain is such an idiot.
The majority of Americans want US out of Iraq. I haven't any qualifiers to that sentiment. No "I want our troops out of Iraq BUT I don't think we should throw away what we've gained there."

I wonder what part of "The majority of Americans want US out of Iraq" McCain is having a problem understanding.

Oh wait ... I've got it. He has a problem understanding "majority"!
