will it be like?

harder storms, more storms; deeper drought, sea rise, crops ruined, food shortage, water contamination, faster winds, specie die-off, etc.

all in the next five years? oy

and what will yr. 6 be like without any ice at the pole(s)? when will the Gulf Stream slow down so much it will stop flowing? and then what?

we are entering the future blind. armor up everyone.

(this news from Gore's recent speaking that has already been posted at DU)

2. I'd rather learn from an Outward Bound instructor then a boy scout

do Outward Bound instructors, past and present, have an organization? if so, they should speak out on survival tips and techniques.

(if I sound like an Outward Bounder, I am. the month long Minn. one. celebrated my 39 birthday on solo {part of the course}.

OB was started during WWII to show troops that they CAN survive under harse conditions. troops were giving up too soon when the going got tough so they came up with OB.

the course has stood me in good stead. thank you OB.

but I don't think things are gonna get THAT rough for us. But people REALLY need to get serious about learning to produce their own food (and prepare it), and make do with a lot less in the way of material comforts and gadgets and foofaraw.

Use it up, wear it out, make do, or do without.
Reduce, reuse, recycle (in that order).

3. Get your communities ready
Do you have a network of people on whom you can rely? A farmer, a mechanic, a medic, etc? How's your food/water supply? How about power? Transportation? Get your acts together NOW people.

4. I suppose after a few ice-free years
they will realize the seriousness of the albedo effect and make a giant sheet of metal foil to cover parts of western Greenland to prevent it from melting.
