Scam targets people's bank account information
Lexington police were recently notified about a fax and e-mail scam to get recipients' bank account information.

The fax is supposedly from a mother in Lebanon who has five children and lost her husband after an explosion.

The letter says the woman's husband was a businessman and physician who has $86 million in American money in a bank in Europe.

The woman says she plans to invest the money in commercial and residential property in the United States. A family friend, who is a diplomat, will help move the money to the account of the letter's recipient if the person provides bank account information.

In turn, the letter claims, that person will receive 20 percent of the money for helping.

Police say anyone receiving such faxes or e-mails should destroy it immediately. This scam is similar to scams recently circulated on the Internet from Nigeria.

Lexington police do not have jurisdiction in the case and cannot investigate further.

2. I Have Given My Banking and Credit Care Information to Some Guys In Nigeria
Edited on Fri Feb-23-07 07:55 PM by demrabble
I received some emails from some very wonderful gentlemen in Nigeria who told me that a long-lost relative of mine had died, and had left me millions of dollars.

They told me that if I would just send them my banking account information and my credit card numbers, they would take care of getting the money to me.

I have already been looking for a bigger house and a boat and a new car.

I'm hoping the money will arrive soon.

I get emails from people offering to give me advice on mortgages and erections and retirement plans and stuff.

Who else would send me such useful, helpful information?

6. Misty Writes to You, Too?
I love the emails Misty sends to me.

Her command of the English language, though, leaves a little to be desired.
