FISA: Harry Reid is crying wolf! He is outraged that the republicans will
not let him ammend the fisa bill, which HE introduced. This is the man who chose to introduce the bill including telecom immunity, INSTEAD of introducing the better bill, formulated by the judiciary committee, which HAD NO IMMUNITY. He must have received so many complaints that he is complaining that the republicans won't let him ammend the bill to remoe the immunity.

Here is the email I just received. I do not know how to answer this move, but it is of the UTMOST importance!
(mods there is no way to provide a link, but since he sent the email to his list, it is fair to assume it is public.)

Dear X,

Republicans seem to have forgotten that national security is one of the most important issues we address in the Senate. Yesterday, they proved the only thing they care about is politics.

They spent the day filibustering on the Senate floor, preventing Democrats from introducing any amendments to the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act (FISA) bill. This means they are blocking an important amendment, which I support, that would make sure phone companies don't receive retroactive immunity.

At the end of the day, Senator McConnell decided he would try and stop debate entirely by filing for cloture. That means if Republicans get 60 votes on Monday, debate on this vital issue will be shut down.

Normally I wouldn't go this deep into Senate procedure, but if you care about your civil liberties and our national security, it is vital you tell your Senators to vote no on cloture Monday by visiting:

http://giveemhellharry.com/fisa

Looking at this situation makes me think the President and Republicans want to fail so they can run and cry to the media that Democrats are weak on national security. That line didn't work in 2006 and it won't work in 2008.

Closing the debate on this bill now is wrong.

Tell your Senators to vote no on cloture Monday by visiting:
http://giveemhellharry.com/fisa

Thank you,

Harry Reid

12. EXACTLY! Doesn't he alone have the power to just introduce the other bill instead?
And how the hell do we tell him, since he obviously doesn't seem to know that?

7. "Give 'em Hell Harry" has morphed back into the "White Rabbit from Alice in Wonderland!"
He huffs and puffs and checks his waistcoat pocket watch...while he screams: "I'm Late! I'm Late!..I'm Late! ...for a VERY IMPORTANT DATE! (his date is always with BUSH) and Alice (Pelosi) still takes her "pills" to decide whether she's the "Tall Person" today...or the "Small Person"...tomorrow.

Both Pelosi and Reid need to be REPLACED! They are a disgrace! Cave In's...to "Bi-Partisanship" that DOES NOT EXIST! Both of them took to many of "Alice's Pills" to even know what to do with their LOBBYISTS NEEDS VS. THEIR CONSTITUENCIES!

:puke: on their "House of Cards and Ill Repute!"

10. Pitiful. "Give 'Em Hell Harry" has become, "What the Hell, Harry?!"
He is weak,
Pelosi is worse.

We need leaders who are willing to lead.

What a fiasco those two have turned out to be.
