But you can submit questions to be asked
http://www.hbo.com/billmaher/I submitted one about Kucinich an his withdrawing his remoarks from the House floor this week:
http://boards.hbo.com/topic/Maher-Overtimeblogga/Overtime-012508/1900001854&#msg1900146445My question as posted: (post #207)
Did Dennis Kucinich really violate House rules when he stated the upcoming State of The Union address will be a lie?
Was he really out of line?
Did he actually violate House Rules?
The accusation that Kucinich was out of line:
Republicans objected to Kucinich's statements, and the congressman returned to the floor a few minutes later to withdraw his "offending words." Florida GOP Rep. Cliff Stearns called his remarks a "clear and egregious violation of House rules" and scolded Kucinich for ut tering "personal accusations" against Bush and Cheney.
Was it really necessary for him to withdraw his comments from the floor?
Did he really violate House Rules, or was it more bullying from the GOP because they were "offended"?
http://rjones2818.blogspot.com/2008/01/its-official-dennis-to-introduce.htmlI read through the House Rules at
http://www.house.gov/house/Orgops.shtml, and under the heading of "Civility", there is nothing that states he should not have the right to make his statements on the house floor.
THe New York Times article:
http://thecaucus.blogs.nytimes.com/2008/01/23/kucinich-starts-new-impeachment-drive/Accusing the administration of lying about the need for the war in Iraq, Mr. Kucinich said he did not need to hear the president’s
assessment. “We know the State of the Union,” he declared. “It’s a lie.”
He also fired a volley at House Speaker Nancy Pelosi of California
who has maintained that impeaching Mr. Bush is not on the table for Congressional Democrats. “If impeachment is off the table,” Mr. Kucinich said, “truth is off the table. If truth is off the table
then this body is living a lie.”
