I'm surprised. John Stossel is actually doing a decent program!

20/20 is about all the people trying to scare Americans! I have it on in the background so I may have missed a few things, but he's talked about flying, terrorist attacks, kidnappings, a lot of different things, and he'sdebunked most of them if not all.

Basicly he says the gov't and the media is scaring people about the wrong things!

As I understood it, the bulk of the program didn't rely on statistics per se, but rather it pointed out that certain supposed cause/effect relationships aren't borne out by scientific scrutiny.

He mentioned RFK Jr's ill-founded attacks on the evils of Thimerosal, and I thought that Bobby's Rolling Stone article was more recent than last season. He also talked about the reapproval of silicone gel breast implants, which I likewise thought was a more recent development.

I could easily be wrong on both counts, of course.


Still, it's nice to see any "news" program debunking the Thimerosal/autism scaremongering, even if Stoss-hole is the one doing the debunking.

Yes wages are better now than they were 150 years ago but in the last 6 years they have been stagnant or going down for regular workers. They pointed to more vacation time, health care benefits and pensions as to why we are doing better which is the weakest argument I can imagine. Since when has vacation time for anyone increased? Fewer people have any kind of health care and many companies are starting to do away with pensions. Six years ago things were great, but it's all starting to be dismantled!
