Shrub's Last SOTU Address!

Today will see the last time we're likely to hear the Resident assess the state of our union's strength. I won't get to watch it until after I get off work at midnight, but like most of the humans on Earth I'm looking forward to it.

Any predictions?

1. I predict he'll pull down his shorts and moon the assembly.

Why not? He knows we don't like him, and we know he doesn't like us. So the message would be about the same as making a long, boring speech at this point--plus it'd be an ice breaker.

We'd also get to see if the guy really does work out as much as the WH says he does...

4. I predict he won't use a single word longer than 3 syllables, or a sentence longer than 7 words.

To raise the stakes, I predict he will say (in a nasal, fake Texas accent) the words: Edjukayshun, nukular, and ninah'levin. :dunce:

I can read about his gaffes later, and avoid the heartburn I felt the last time I did listen to one, in 2005 - when he first rolled out his intent to roll-back social security via privatization and bragged about how "strong" he was because, he told the country, no one was bold enough to take on social security *but him*....

13. same pile of crap he's been saying for the past 7 SOTUs

during last year's SOTU, I kept getting up and checking the VCR and DVD player to make sure I was watching "LIVE TV" and not a recording from the previous year...

things to watch for during the speech:

- number of times the repubs leap to their feet in applause vs the dems
- intensity of applause, tepid and polite? genuine approval? over done in desperation?
- scuttlebutt has it McCain won't be there otherwise I'd suggest watching for zzzzzzzzz's by him
- bush pauses in speech waiting for cheney to have a drink of water

16. I Predict My Remote Control Will Be Busy

Supposedly the asshat will call for "bipartisanship" translation: he'll screw over both parties this year.

Even in the best of times, the SOTU is a rah-rah speech, in the worst of time, it's denial and spin. There's little of merit or substance in what comes out of boooosh's pie hole. I'll check out Animal Planet instead...maybe they'll have the Orangutans on...at least something with more intellect to watch.
