Super-Bama Displays Superpower: 22,000 (NOT A TYPO) Rally in Texas!!
Edited on Sat Feb-24-07 09:51 AM by Dems Will Win

Obama has at least one superpower: DRAWING POWER.

The campaign is claiming 22,000. Remember how shocked we all were when Dean got 3,000 in Austin at this point in the cycle.

Over 20,000 Gather For Barack Obama

If Friday's turnout is any indication, Democratic presidential hopeful Barack Obama is gaining huge momentum.

Austin was one of the stops on his presidential announcement tour.

More than 20,000 supporters filled Auditorium Shores to hear him speak. The crowd shows Obama’s appeal crosses boundaries of age, race and gender.

Long lines and rainy weather didn't keep supporters of the Democratic party's fastest rising star away.

"He's not just a young persons person, but middle age and older people too,” Dorothy Johson said.

Obama is re-energizing voters.

“I really haven’t been involved in politics in quite some time,” L.B. Henderson said. “I felt this is an opportunity to do some grassroots to see what's going on.”

...

Obama stressed universal health care, education and pulling out of Iraq. Tom Rafferty says there's a lot more to Obama.

“He's talking about domestic policy, he's talking about human rights, he's talking about energy and how we can rebuild this country,” Rafferty said.

That's why these voters want to see Barack Obama in the White House in 2008.

What do you think about this?

Please recommend to get this number of over 20,000 out there. The Washington Post just said the crowd was "massive".

I'd love to see the turnout here, and what type of supporters we would see.

But not so much in the rest of the state, I'm afraid.

13. Stunning sophistication of the Obama website, www.barackobama.com
Hi good friend DWW; how you doing? Thanks for the referral to http://www.barackobama.com.

Because the ad agency we own does this sort of thing frequently I think I'm qualified to comment on the technical sophistication of the website. I just went there for the first time a few minutes ago, and I've never seen anything quite like it from a candidate.

The site is very competitive with some of the best corporate work. It's got plenty of broadcast-quality video, personalization ("My Obama"), a consistent brand theme throughout the site and beautiful graphic layouts. Each one of the video clips and other features I tried out worked flawlessly.

I'm not sure who I'm supporting as a candidate yet, but one has to give the Obama people some credit. They've built on what Howard Dean started on the web and took it to a whole new level. Very, very impressive. They really "get it."

15. Yo Redacted! I put up a blog there already!
It was really easy!

Obama is the one but he still needs a little work. However his policy positions are mostly spot on, except for a couple of klunkers but the thing about him is he listens and learns.

Plus he must have an IQ of around 180...

16. Really? Blogs? Obama is hosting blogs?
Geez DWW that's a neat trick, isn't it? I'd rather see Obama get blog traffic than, say, Blogger.com or Google, who don't really need the hits.

About the 180 IQ: yeah, that gives one pause. He just doesn't seem like the typical University of Chicago law professor, nor Sidley & Austin associate. Incredible.

17. Obama Rocks
If his leadership ability is half as good as his charisma, he'll be a great President. After 8 years of Bush, his Presidency would be like pouring oil upon troubled waters.

Too bad, I'm Canadian and can't vote for him.

23. I saw him speak and anyone who was impressed with his Keynote
speech needs to see him speak live. You'll be blown away. Whether he is your candidate of choice or not, if you have the opportunity to see him speak, attend the function. I didn't go to see him. I went to work on one of Russ Feingold's events in 2004. Barak already had Illinois pretty much sewn up and was helping out other Dem. candidates. Then Candidate Obama came to WI with 3 bus loads of volunteers, gave a speech for Feingold, then he and his supporters went out canvassing in Milwaukee following the event.

While I'm a Clark fan myself, I would definitely go to see Barack Obama speak again.
