I'm tired of letting the dumbshits get away with writing dumbshit LTTEs. I know I can't convince anybody that Dumbya is a worthless turd, but I'm just tired of them getting those amazingly ignorant letters published without any kind of mean-spirited response.
Below is a LTTE to our local (small town) newspaper, with my response below.... it was published in the next edition. My wife had advised me to soften it a bit, and I did, but there's still a little bite.
It also helps to know the asshole who wrote the original letter is a locally well-known rightwingnut who has shouted "You should be ashamed of yourselves!" as he drove past our protests.
Why use reason on unreasoning clods, when ad hominem attacks are much more fun? - - - Editor: "Recently, I have noted a small, but vocal group demonstrating at the Circle advocating the impeachment of President Bush.
Since the most obvious beneficiary of Mr. Bush's removal would be Vice President Cheney, it occurs to me that this is a brazen attempt by a group of Republican right-wing extremists, whose actions may or may not have the tacit approval of Mr. Cheney.
As a supporter of Mr. Bush, it distresses me to witness such divisiveness in the Republican party, and I am appealing to the demonstrators to examine their short-sighted emotionalism and unite with their fellow Republicans in combating the dangerous socialist drift that confronts America."
Charlie Norton - - - - - - My response:
Editor:
Regarding Charlie Norton’s letter to the Sun “Demonstrators are Short Sighted”:
Mr. Norton to points out, tongue in cheek, that impeachment of Bush would leave us Cheney, so the war protesters at the Circle must be right-wing operatives.
How much more clever Mr Norton is than we foolish war protesters. How humorous Mr Norton is!
You’ll pardon me if I see nothing even remotely humorous about a war of choice with the wrong enemy that has killed at least 3100 US troops, and hundreds of thousands of Iraqis, and maimed countless others... Iraqi and American.
As for Cheney, he may have cooked his own goose, anyway. The trail of clues in the Plame case is leading right back to Cheney’s office. Remember the previous crooked VP... Spiro Agnew? All he did was take some bribes, not expose a CIA agent and network like Cheney did.
Mr Norton represents the tiny minority who naively still support this president in his war, no matter how badly Bush has botched it.
A President whose duplicity and ignorance causes thousands of deaths is not nearly as humorous as a President who lies about his sex life.
I do, however, find it amusing that Mr. Norton decries “socialist drift” in a town where so many draw benefits from “socialist” programs like Social Security and Medicare.
