May be wait no longer for the world to change. . .
Edited on Sat Feb-24-07 02:42 PM by stellanoir
I've been meaning to post a thread with this title ever since I first heard maestro Mayer's song many moons ago. My initial reaction was that the heartfelt song sadly, might reinforce even further complacency. Though it certainly is reflective of the zeitgeist of how all too many feel.

I was thrilled to see Island Blue's wonderful video with many proactive suggestions scored to that tune. Its stark simplicity, clarity, and veracity struck me very deeply this morning.

It inspired me to put forth yet another affirmation in hopes of neutralizing oppressive collectively presumed powerlessness. Silly me.

I believe in the depth of my soul that with severely compromised voting machinery and media and far too many legislators that are controlled by those profiting immensely from the MIC, the only way we can possibly convince the usurpers of power that militarism is so-o-o last millennium and totally counterproductive, is to initiate a collective leap in consciousness through intense group cerebral focus.

Terrorism. . .hmmm. . .I just heard a linguist on the radio defining it as "use of violence perpetrated for political purposes." She furthered that the UN tried to define it for 17 years and failed to do so. (???)

Wouldn't all militarism qualify as such. . .? The Mother Jones report out this week speaks volumes.
http://www.motherjones.com/news/featurex/2007/03/iraq_effect_1.html Or as one of the illustrious Python guys ironically said, "You can't have a war on an abstract noun."

That reminds me of something I once heard about our gov spending a year and a half in the 60's trying to decipher the lyrics of "Louis Louis" only to conclude that they were entirely unintelligible. So go figure. Intelligence. . .? hmmm.

Psssssssssssssssssssttttt . . .

Consider what many in the spiritual community believe:

Wars are NOW energetically unwinnable in this still new millennium.

We may just require something a bit more enlightened than "testosterone based solutions." It's perhaps simply time for us all to evolve and learn to get along globally and lead with our collective hearts and minds.

An oldie but a good one for all the kids. . .http://www.globalcommunity.org/flash/wombat.shtml

Here's a humble though long winded suggestion for the prayer of the week. . .(for the spiritually lazy. . .cut to the last line in the prayer)

"We are creating with spirit that the military make an announcement to this cabinet that they cannot win and a surge will be pointless. We are creating with spirit that an inspired thought penetrate the pRes's block headed, short sighted arrogance. We are creating with spirit that the suffering being perpetrated on this sphere cease and greater enlightenment come to be, globally. We are creating with spirit that many become far more aware than any media details have allowed. We are creating with spirit that awareness overcome disregard for the health and happiness of all human beings. We are creating with spirit that all conflicts be resolved through the delicate and seemingly lost art of diplomacy rather than any further idiotic bellicosity. We are creating with spirit that the IWR, HAVA, and MCA be repealled. We are creating with spirit neutralization of our dynamic with Iran. We are creating with spirit a lasting peace on Earth."

"Rinse and Repeat"

Or maybe if you're REALLY lazy, just chant "Ooga, Booga, Smooga, Wooga" = OBSW = "Oh Bull Shit W"

http://www.cafepress.com/helderheid/2380944

We really don't need a foreign policy scripted by "Pinky and the Brain" any longer IMHO. Global domination is just so tiresome and never works for very long. It is predictably, historically, and inevitably undermined by its own hubris.

"nam-myoho-renge-kyo"

Have a nice day.

(sincere thanks to StG for inspiring most of the content of the prayer)

5. ooooooooooooooo my fave photobucket pict.
That always makes me smile.

Only you would catch the StG reference. Thanks again.

That inspired me to repost my 2nd of last year's "19 tricks or Weapons of Mass Creation for Global Amelioration"

"2. Visualize the planet bathed in a regal violet-purple light at least
momentarily once daily. It is s really easy to project violet-purple
light when earth icon appears on your screen. Consider scrolling down
at the link here. . . . http://www.lovearth.net/

(Violet-"Purple rain, purple""reign". . . : )

It can be that simple and easy for those who are unaccustomed to routine
visualization. For reasons I'll explain in far greater specificity in
a subsequent version, violet-purple rays of transmutational light will
gently wake up several sleeping souls and solve problems, ages old in
many places and will ameliorate even circumstances most dire. Focusing
on regions most conflicted (D.C., the MidEast, Iraq. the Gulf Coast ,
and the entire continent of Africa. . .etc) will help as well.

(For those of earthier orientations who unlike many spiritualists,
don't necessarily resonate with the violet-purple vibration, another
alternative suggested by a differing source would be to project a
vibrant green around the globe. That color will most likely hasten the
healing of our woefully damaged ecosystems and many sad and bleeding
hearts as well. )"

Red+Blue=Purple. Reissuing a purple alert. Let's get spiritual and restore humanity already. :woohoo:

"Giving testimony is my way of planting seeds of peace. Let many people join hands to make an ever larger circle in which everybody plants a seed for peace. For the sake of our beautiful earth and for a wonderful future, let us spread seeds of the heart, starting with those around us. ."

"Today I devote my days to my mission of giving testimony, for I believe it my responsibility to teach, through my experience, the younger generations who have not experienced war about the dignity of life and the importance of making and protecting peace."

I talk with wickfordbard about this a lot.

How the collective muse can empower a negative outcome. It's maybe done this through Pinky and the Brain imagery.

Tough to tell for sure.

Thank you so much, and I couldn't agree more that we need an alternative to testosterone based solutions. Yesterday, I heard an interview on an AAR show with Dennis Kucinich, and loved it when he was talking about the Dept. of Peace that he wants to get going. He has a number of politicians in Washington signed on to his proposal, and he made a very good point that it doesn't make any sense to have the same people fighting wars also do peace missions. I just loved it.

25. true confession. . .
I heard an really funny astronomer on "Wait, Wait, Don't Tell Me" yesterday. Didn't catch his name but he was affiliated with the primary Planetarium in NY. (Hayden?) (I'm writing this post prior to my imbibing my morning beverage-too lazy to google it-my teapot takes forever) Anyhoo the guy was a riot and he was on to do the segment they call "Not My Job."

In his preamble he was talking about Pluto's diminished status and how he had actually called Disney to find out why Mickey wasn't Pluto's mouse instead of Pluto being Mickey's dog. A rep from Disney said the cartoon character who's wearing clothes has dominance. (???) He also mentioned an asteroid that's trajectory is going to have a near miss with Earth in 2029. Ahhh it appears that it will pass us closer than many of our communication satellites and we won't be sure as to it's trajectory on its second pass until much later. One of the panelists said "why don't we fire a missile at it." He said something to the effect of "sometimes testosterone based solutions are not the best." LOL

So I stole that line from him.

27. Agreed But I happen to know that in "Louie Louie" the words
That got the song pulled from so many radio stations were not words inside the lyrics - but rather the words of one of the band members who shouts out "Hair Pie" rather loudly (I think this was the Kingsmen's band version) Forget why he needed to shout it out - but it does rather fit and in this day and age of "ho's and bitches" and other nasty expresionsetc it is rather tame by comparison

29. Some suggest that if a million "puny" people focus
on prayers for peace and more enlightened leadership in a "surge" in consciousness the world WILL indeed change.

I'm banking on it and will continue to craft politically oriented prayers because I feel our remedies with the energies that are now available to us will not be exclusively linear or traditional.

A true spiritual humanism is all that can possibly neutralize this oppressive extreme fundamentalism methinks.

tra la la

31. Attitude adjustment
Stella, at about the point you posted this, there was a news item to the effect that four or five very prominent generals and admirals are prepared to resign rather than implement any order by Dubya to attack Iran. So I think you're on the right track. I think that's how this stuff works, on the margins-- just like I don't think Neptune's suddenly gonna teleport itself across the sky to make us cut the crap (although that'd probably work!), I believe such efforts as this are more likely to persuade those already close to persuaded.

Now I'm thinking about the phenomenon of "deathbed conversions." As you know, the Christian belief system allows, and indeed encourages, such. Constantine, who's one of their big heroes just because he was the first Roman emperor to march under the sign of the cross ("Onward Christian Soldiers"), didn't actually accept Jesus and receive the injunction to go and sin no more until he was on his literal deathbed-- at which point he confessed and was presumably forgiven and received into Heaven, no matter how belligerently he behaved on earth and how worse off he left it. More recently, Lee Atwater, dying of cancer, apologized to the American people for the Willie Horton ad campaign that tanked Michael Dukakis's presidential candidacy and ramped up divisive identity politics in America. And Bob Woodward would have you believe that Robert Casey had a similar fit of remorse and confessed his Iran/Contra sins. (I might believe that, but I'm not prepared to take Woodward's word for it.)

The problem with this shit is, you might be able to sleaze your way into heaven by doing that, but you've fucked up the earth.

I was brought up in a tradition where the focus is much more on doing the right thing. Even if it's for selfish, icky, sinful reasons. Even if the ultimate effect is much worse than you intended. Part of the idea is to get into the habit of beneficent behavior-- no matter what your original rationale is for right action, as long as you get on that path, it's self-reinforcing. You can become a mensch in spite of yourself, and that's very important to embrace, because so many of the other forces on earth conspire to produce assholes. And a human scaled social movement might possibly convince those on the fence to do the right thing before it's too late.

My two cents, hopefully worth it. Ooga booga smooga wooga.

The OP evolved from a comment I made on a thread posted the Huff Post by Deepak Chokpra. I think that it was entitled, "Why did I do that?"

I had responded with this. . .

"Intention. . .

I've always found it interesting that some faiths say, "the road to hell is paved with good intentions" whereas others reinforce purity of intention is all that really matters regardless of often unforeseeable outcomes.

Sociopaths are fundamentally incapable of sincere introspection. They feel no guilt for the heinous carnage left in their wake and perhaps, thereby push karmic repercussions into future lives or so it would seem. . . "

Then I went into an earlier version of the prayer.

I just read a channeling that's sort of speaks to this issue. Hold on I'll go fetch a link.
