News item about el pretzeldente's visit to KC today
Shortly before his speech, the president toured Kaleidoscope, where 100 children from Horizon Elementary School in Shawnee were playing at a series of work stations.

At one point, Bush sat with a little girl to make a greeting card to 14-year-old Trey Graves, the son of a Missouri congressman for whom Bush is here to fundraise. Sam Graves' son this morning had an emergency appendectomy.

Using tape and red marker, Bush pieced together a card featuring a large red star on the front. He then presented it to the congressman.

Can I gag now? Kaleidoscope is an art studio for kids run by Hallmark. It's for kids, not for presidents.

So he listens to 1st grade stories in Florida and makes cards here in KC. Would someone please tell this man to grow up??

2. He probably played hooky a lot while he was in school
He seems to enjoy it so much in his later years.

4. And how much tape and red marker did he have all over himself when he was done?
Obviously they kept him away from the glue.

7. Good grief. Why is it "cute" that we have a childish president?
Edited on Sat Feb-02-08 12:52 PM by tanyev
I can't wait until we have a new president that can give complicated, nuanced speeches and I can watch him or her on television and be interested in what is being said.

Edit to add: Of course, I'm not referring to you. I'm referring to the tone set by all of the so-called reporters in that story.

9. I heard Barack Obama speak earlier this week
and Bill Clinton last Sat. And I couldn't help but think while I listened to those two great orators that it will indeed be nice to have a president who can actually speak English and do it well once again.

8. It's better he's making cards than policy.
I'm not gonna complain about this.
