Over $50 million for a single delegate.

As the LA Times notes, that's the worst dollar for delegate record in American presidential history. The previous winner was John Connally who spent $11 million for a single delegate in 1980.

And at that rate Rudy would have needed $60 billion to win the nomination.

On the other hand, 9/11 did change everything.

1. From where I'm sitting that's a great record to break
I love seeing record amounts of Republican candidate donations flushed down the commode. :bounce:

2. He could have bought me for a lot less.
Of course, that's assuming I'm a delegate to the GOP convention. But, hell, for a mere $10,000 I'd have promised him unconditionally that if chosen to serve as a delegate from The Great State of Indiana, I would have voted for him.

3. Other people's money. Did he set a record for the total amount conned out of other people for
support of his egomania?

10. $146 per vote
I'm fudging a little, counting delegates in caucus states as votes, but still...

Those republicans, so good at managing money!
