He's running for "Commander in Chief"--so says the commercial I saw about an hour ago.

As a Reaganite, no less.

:scared:

1. For many Americans Commander In Chief is the important
job of President.

3. Not for me, it isn't.
It's pounding the drums of war, and I'm sick of it. We've had 7 years of it now, and the country is a mess, as is Iraq and Afghanistan.

Yes, the role of CiC is an important one, but so is being a leader of domestic policy. I want to see the next President do some things about our infrastructure, about global warming, about the mortgage/debt crisis, about poverty, about sub-standard wage, about the hellishly high price of gas and heating oil, etc.

Bush has run this country on the theme of terra, terra, terra, war, war, war. It's time to stop that fucking shit, and do it different and better.

5. Then he should stop pretending to be running for Pres
Commander in Chief is a substratum of the many layers that make up the actions required of a President.

If one just wants to be CiC, then go back to playing with your little plastic army men.

The country elects a President. Not simply a CiC.

7. I'm surprised Bush isn't having himself announced that way.
They do love that term. It's like a bunch of kids with plastic soldiers. Or in Bush's case a bunch of firecrackers and frogs.

He thinks it gives him magical rights to break the law, too.

11. That's unsettling.
When you're selling yourself strictly as one aspect of the job (and the miltaristic part), that's worrisome.

I would think that the American people would have had enough of this warlike stuff by now.
