Montel Williams wins Algae Award

for taking the opportunity unwittingly given him by the faux news chumps to put things in perspective. In his soft-spoken manner he pointed out the lunacy of the so-called news media running from one housefire and train wreck to another and pimping anything that might get ratings, while ignoring the real ongoing tragedy of this country's abuse not only of Iraqis but of its own.

We are privileged to honor Mr. Williams for this. Never a particular fan of his program, we knew little about him until this incident was called to our attention. Thanks to several DUers for doing so, and thanks to Brandon Friedman on Daily Kos for his excellent post.

is that so much stuff on blogs like DU is there for a few hours and sinks into obscurity, and so much stuff on places like UTube is lost amid the chatter

Some things deserve a permanent place of honor. Thus was born the Algae Awards!
