The movie Blades of Glory is about two rival figure skaters (based off of Johnny Weir and Evan Lysacek) compete for the gold and end up in a TIE. It was hillarious because it would probably never happen.
I know you guys probably don't follow actual figure skating, but I'm a big fan and wanted to share this bit of news with my favorite site! Something very interesting (that was almost identitcal to the movie BLADES OF GLORY) took place this past week at the US Figure Skating Nationals. Johnny Weir and Evan lysacek (the two rival skaters they parody in Blades Of Glory. Johnny being Jon Heder's character and Evan being Will Ferrell's character) went up against each other. Guess what? They actually TIED. They both received 244.77 scores for the overall competition. As Scott Hamilton put it... that is shocking. The likelihood of that happening (in Scott's own words) is the same as flipping a quarter and having it land on it's edge!
Here's a quote from USAToday: "This only came up because there was a tie. What are the odds of that? We can't quite figure that out. I feel like we're the first people that ever played golf and we just hit the first hole-in-one. I'm not too sure we'll ever see this again."
oh the irony ... sometimes life imitates art!
