Bush is NOT a Christian.
How can B*sh be a Christian when:

- He unapologetically start wars of aggression based on false pretenses (a war crime in which the Nazis where hanged in Numeburg)
- Utter the words "F*ck Saddam. I'm taking him out."
- Utter in greed with oil and weapons profits
- Threatened the environment (God's creation!)
- Pathologically lying us to a war that cost 5,000 dead GIs, 1,000,000 dead Iraqis, a crapload of hundreds of millions of dollars that would have been spent better on social and economic issues
- Being an idiot!

A true Christian would never do these things or he will be condemned to hell.

3. Has there ever been a question otherwise....
...in 1999, those of us who knew were trying to get the word out. We failed and were burdened with President Insane for eight, long, stupid years.

5. So many incedibly gullible christians in our country
I wish they would have turned on him in 2004, oh wait, THEY DID! The machines clearly decided the election. More shady tactics this year too, unless we all demand fixes.

11. However, Bush did get the majority of Christian to vote for him in both 2000 & 2004.
The above fact was proved by the exit polling. Compare this to the majority of those who are secular and voted against Bush in both elections. Bush portrayed himself as a Christian of the type that many other Christians liked and most of them still do. This is why all of the Republican Candidates have bent over backward to still support Bush and thus get those votes.

Or maybe there's no such place and we're all in this thing together.

14. Bullshit.
Christian leaders have started wars, uttered curses, appropriated wealth, etc., throughout history. There's nothing magically "good" about being a Christian. Bush is a Christian.

15. FACT: Bush is a member of a Death Cult Fraternity
that relishes death imagery and uses Satanic and pagan symbols.

That is a fact. I don't know if he actually believes any of that silly Death Cult shit but I seriously doubt he is a Christian.

I'm an atheist with a penchant for buddhist philosophy BTW.

18. Sounds like you are saying that Christians are better than other people.
Your argument is with history.

Next you'll be telling us that Pat Roberson, Jerry Falwell, Don Wildmon, Tony Perkins, James Dobson, and Ted Haggard are not Christians.

You can't toss him out of the club because he makes it look bad-- he's a Christian.

This is like saying Harry Reid isn't a real Democrat or Timothy McVeigh wasn't a real American. Just because they represent aspects of the group that you don't like doesn't mean they aren't part of that group. To suggest that GW Bush belongs with atheists because he's immoral is just a tad insulting.

23. Christopublicanism
Edited on Sun Feb-03-08 03:54 PM by Prophet 451
I wrote an essay about this a while back (it's in my DU journal). We are witnessing the rise of an entirely new sect of Christianity. While it's sometimes said that religion should get out of politics, Christopublicanism exists because of and in symbiosis with extreme-right politics. In mainstream Christianity, the holy book is the Bible. Christopublicanism keeps that but also gives equal weight to works like The World Is Flat, Atlas Shrugged and The Way Things Ought To Be. Jesus is still considered the Messiah but he shares that billing with Ronald Reagan. In mainstream Christianity, Satan (whom I actually worship) is considered the source of evil; in Christopublicanism, he is on equal ground with Bill & Hillary Clinton.

Consider it a mixture of Christianity (of a kind, anyway), Italian-style fascism and basic despotism. From a sociological point of view, it's fascinating to watch. From the point of view of a person stuck on this rock with them, it's terrifying.

By the way, unless you've developed a method of reading Bush's (what passes for a) mind, you'll just have to take his word for it that he's a Christian. All it takes is the belief that Jesus was God, died and rose from teh grave to save humanity from the punishment imposed by himself (I'm not real clear on that part). It's not exactly an exclusive club as the number of Christian serial killers, megalomaniacs and assorted bastards can attest. We can say they were very bad at being Christians but without reading their minds, we cannot say that they weren't.

Incidently, suggestions for a different name will be considered since I have no wish to slander Jesus (whom I don't consider to be God but do consider to be a great man) by associating his name with this movement.
