You already hear McCain saying either Clinton or Obama is going to surrender to the terrorists if they win. Will that fly? Or will Iraq even be a big enough issue to swing the election? If it is more about the economy is that to our advantage? What are your thoughts on this?

3. Iraq will be huge in the election...
but with the economy tanking, it may be eclipsed somewhat. My presumption is that Hillary Clinton will be the Democratic nominee (sorry Obama supporters). If the Republican nominee is John "100 More Years" McCain, we beat him on the issue. If the nominee is Mitt "No National, Military or Foreign Policy Experience" Romney, we beat him on the issue.

70% of Americans do not support this war. The Republicans have nothing left but the escalation/surge. McCain in particular has bet his career on its success. Given what we know about it we can safely quote the first President Bush, "that dog won't hunt."

6. I'm sure McCain would tout the new "reconciliation law,"

despite the pretty blatant flaws and loopholes it contains.

9. I saw McCain today on CNN and could not believe what I was hearing. He was bragging about how he
stuck it out with GW on the Iraq surge and what a great success it has been and how we are winning the war now. The msm, to me anyway, seems to be also spinning on this point. I know it's not true, but I wonder if most Americans buy into this bull shit.

4. People are losing their homes.
Americans can't afford to put gas in our cars or food on our tables. You really think a distant war matters anymore? Not unless it's put in an economic context.

7. Yeah, they can
Because by the time the election comes around, the media (which is going to support McCain) will have twisted every possible nuance on the subject into fearmongering and Satan-worshipping, and the American people will fall for ir again.

As someone once said "No-one ever went broke underestimating the intelligence of the general public".
