GLENDALE, Ariz., Feb. 3 -- Even in the final hours before the New England Patriots played the New York Giants in the Super Bowl, "Spygate" wouldn't go away. Sen. Arlen Specter (R-Pa.) said he would speak to NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell as soon as Monday about concerns over the league's handling of the spying scandal involving the Patriots.

Specter, the ranking member of the Senate Judiciary Committee, told ESPN on Sunday that he planned to call Goodell on Monday morning."

4. From what I've read/heard, it sounds like he's sucking up to voters in Philly.

Apparently, there is a group of people who are upset by the prospect of the Patriots having beat the Eagles in the Super Bowl because they cheated. I'm guessing that there were enough people (or at least enough people with money) to get this non-issue on Specter's desk.

Regardless of what his motivation is, I agree whole-heartedly with your view. It's a pathetic waste of time, considering all the more pressing issues he's ignoring or has killed in committee.
