Ok,,, have to admit. I don't actually have conversations with Big Foot. Though if I did, and if Big Foot did have any capacity for intellectual reasoning, I certainly would be interested to hear his, or her, take on things... In my mind, I would suspect that Big Foot lurks in the background snickering at us and human frailty in general. Greed, ego, self importance, quest for power, jealosy... To the Big Foot, he'd probably think "Sure, I'm a stinky primate and sleep in bushes, but for the love of god, those humans are daft!"
Jimmy Buffet once wrote a song that included a line that said "The cosmic baker took us out of the oven a little too early". I'd agree. We're all half baked. Defective at birth, our own earthly version of Santa's shop of broken toys. But unlike Santa's broken toys, no "fix" is scheduled for us. We have to make due with what we have.
If you were going to compare us to a product, we'd be the car that only made left turns, the the stop sign that said "go", or the airplane "something near and dear to me" that was made, with only one wing. We are an accident waiting to happen. And add to that, we where given a tremendous capacity to study history but not blessed with any capacity to learn from it.
But here we are.
I have no knowledge of sheep or herding. But I would guess, and with a fair amount of confidence, that as the herd of sheep move as a group to the next feeding point, there is at least one little guy, or gal, who terries, lingers and lags behind. Not out of sloth. But because the sheep is reasoning, "I see that the pack moving in one direction, but perhaps there is a better way to go".
That's my view of the Democratic Underground. A group of people, limited by human nature, but who are willing to use logic, reason, and understanding to move ahead. So join me Dorthy, Toto, Cowardly Lion, Scare Crow, Tin Man and yes you, my friend, the thoughtful little sheep. We're off to see the Wizard!
Thanks Du'ers!
