Elisabeth Hasselbeck: "Liberal Bias In The Media" Makes Me Seem Witchy
http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2008/02/04/elisabeth-hasselbeck-li_n_84778.html

In an interview with Newsweek Ramin Setoodeh, The View co-host Elisabeth Hasselbeck discussed her baby blog, Rosie, and Hillary Clinton. She also had the following exchange, leading up to her discussion of how she is portrayed by the media:

Newsweek: They told me you're very busy.

Elisabeth: I have a million errands. I have to get a workout in. I'm dreading it right now because I sat down, and once I sit down, the inertia sets in. Do you want to run an errand?

Newsweek: What can I do?
Elisabeth: I need 1 percent milk. And can you get me some gluten-free cookies? The bad thing is when I'm at the grocery store, my eyes are bigger than my ability to carry it all home.

Newsweek: Thank you for not being mean.
Elisabeth: It's bizarre. People are, like, she must be witchy. I think it's the liberal bias in the media that I'm the one who's argumentative.

1. No, sweetie...
Your witchiness makes you seem witchy.
Just like your utter stupidity makes you seem stupid.

4. Exactly. I don't see how the liberal media determines what comes out of her mouth...
...on that show. And that is what makes her seem "witchy".

2. Liberal bias, the common republican whining point
Good lord people. Does this meme ever get tiring for you? Can't you come up with something new?

23. maybe because that whining point is constantly repeated
by every talk radio show, every M$M news show, every freeper run blog. The Right wingnuts talk about a bias in media but never cite reference because they ARE the media

25. This is how I know someone's lost an argument
the second they bring up liberal media bias I know that they've run out of actual points to make.

Why would any sane person want to eat them?

6. I have a friend who claims to be "gluten intolerant"...
...can't have anything made with gluten, which eliminates flour, bread, pasta, etc. etc. etc.

It's like lactose intolerance or any other food allergy. Some people are more sensitive to it than others, but when a doctor zeros in on it through process of elimination, patients remove those items from their diet to see if their overall health improves.

12. Gluten allergy is actually common enough for products to be out there.
They use rice flour instead and make pasta, cereals, pretzels, cookies, whatever. She might be worried because of the nursing (she'd better be nursing with not working right now and money and time for a lactation consultant!).

I dislike her because of what she says, not because I read an article about her from the big ol' mean liberal media. :eyes:

7. It's her pissy, angry, didactic, condescending attitude that makes her appear "witchy."
And the term "witchy" is really rather offensive in that it's designed to slam women--so of course she tosses it out, because the GOP doesn't regard women too highly.

I think the term "raving asshole" is non-gender specific, and fits her to a tee!

That would be the American Civil Witches Liberties Union.

Would hate to be accused of guilt by association.

I'm not Wiccan really. This is just total bull.

Liberal bias my ass.

14. Reality TV stars
This women has had more then her 15 minutes of fame. She milks an appearance on "Survivor OutBack" into a marriage to a backup NFL quarterback and then somehow she wrangles a job on this show. Although I think Rosie went over the top in her attack on Elizabeth Hasselback, i am also pretty certain that there are things said off camera that we are unaware of.

30. BS that Rosie attacked Elisabeth.
Here's the video for proof. It's not unreasonable for Rosie to ask Elisabeth to answer a simple question. I think she's (EH) ultimately working for a job on Fox. And exchanges like this will help her get there. It can only happen soon enough for me. I can't watch The View with bimbo EH on the show.

16. It's universal. In Holland, they're saying the same thing: "the media is too liberal".
Nevermind that the largest newspapers and tv stations are far right and very conservative. As long as you can keep the myth intact, everybody will parrot along with you. The right-wing is genius in creating these kind of myths. Why can't the left ever mold the political discourse the way they want? They're always in defense.

18. Oh really. That's interesting.
I always had the idea that the Netherlands was comparatively more progressive than the USA.

However, I worked with a Dutch immigrant who seemed overwhelmingly right wing (from what I could tell). My guess was that he moved to Salem, Oregon to get away from Dutch people. He was a real asshole, and not very well liked by his underlings at work. Another Dutch immigrant at the same workplace once apologized on his behalf, and said that most Dutch people are very nice people, unlike him.

22. Yes, as a nation and in our policies and politics we are far more progressive, but
the right-wing is dominating the media. The parties on the (far) right together got 33 seats in parliament (out of 150), so that's relatively few. Still, they manage to draw a whole lot of attention in the media with typical symbolic non-issues, mostly relating to immigration and Islam. They determine what we talk about and the left, although it has 65 seats, is always in defense.

17. Wait a minute
She could blame 'editing' when she was on Survivor.

Isn't The View a *live* show?

How could 'liberal media' and editing be a problem?

And did anyone ask where I might find this liberal media? I would like to get my news from them. I miss real news.

28. media
= people that are not conservative. If you're conservative then you are not part of the media. So even though she is on a media type show, she clearly isn't part of the media.
