Here's how GWB is trying to cut costs in the budget

I got this out of the yahoo.com story.

"For his last budget, Bush, as a money-saving measure, stopped the practice of providing 3,000 paper copies of the budget to members of Congress and the media, instead posting the entire document online at http://www.budget.gov. Democrats joked that Bush cut back on the printed copies because he ran out of red ink."

Great. He saved the printing office a few reams of paper so that he doesn't have to provide information to Congress. I'm sure that he's thinking "maybe if I don't give them paper copies they won't know what hit them."

But it's a little disingenuous to claim it's a cost-cutting measure. 3,000 copies of the budget cost about the same as 30 seconds in Iraq.

it wasn't a secret on DU, actually. Lots of newbies here now. DU has run about a brazillion links to articles and interviews where they say of COURSE they (Congress) don't read the bills before they vote. Too long and often delivered too late, anyway.
