Sorry, you’re too fat to eat here
So, this Republic stooge is wasting time and taxpayers' money on a bill that he never expected to become law?

"JACKSON, Miss. - A state lawmaker wants to ban restaurants from serving food to obese customers — but please, don’t be offended.

He says he never even expected his plan to become law. “I was trying to shed a little light on the number one problem in Mississippi,” said Republican Rep. John Read of Gautier, who acknowledges that at 5-foot-11 and 230 pounds, he’d probably have a tough time under his own bill.

More than 30 percent of adults in Mississippi are considered it obese, according to a 2007 study by the Trust for America’s Health, a research group that focuses on disease prevention.

The state House Public Health Committee chairman, Democrat Steve Holland of Plantersville, said he is going to “shred” the bill..."

12. Readng this updated article makes me feel better about it, good thing to do.
Good way to bring notice to a big problem. So to speak. The amount of time and money wasted seems minimal compared to the amount of getting people to think and talk about this issue.

No m'am, I'm not kidding.
Just step up on the scale please.
M'am...PLEASE?
Thank you.
OK, just a second while I check your height.
What?
I'm calculating your BMI.
No m'am, that stands for Body Mass Indicator.
Just a second.
Sorry, m'am. You're BMI is 31.6. You're clinically obese. I'll have to ask you to leave.
Yes m'am, I know you had reservations. Possibly others in your party will be allowed to dine here, but I have to ask you to leave.
According to the law, we cannot serve you.

18. If you want to use restaurants to tackle obesity...
...why not pass a law requiring restaurants to put the calorie & nutrition data for each dish on the menu so that people can make better-informed decisions?

Banning obese people from eating in restaurants is just stupid - the cure for obesity is not starvation - it's sensible portion control, healthier foods, and more exercise.

The only aim of this bill seems to be to needlessly humiliate obese people.

Maybe these politicians ought to realize that obese people vote, too...

20. Mississippa is still below the national average obesity rate...
That's some asshole of a state lawmaker.

Truth is... he should have worked on a bill to introduce curriculum in public schools that include physical activity like we used to have back in the day.
