9. i don't think too many people would favour legalizing meth...

while pot may someday stand an outside chance at decriminalization- things like heroin, cocaine, meth, quaaludes etc...will never come close. and the vast majority of people would argue that it's a good thing, too. things that are extremely addictive and easy to o.d. on should not be made available to the general public. and while alcohol does somewhat fill that bill(although it's not THAT easy to o.d. on- it takes some effort), it's something that's also been legal AND illegal, and our society has decided that legal works better for alcohol. whether it would work better for the other substances is something we'll never know.

and the prescription was $40 for infants DM. Used to cost about $7 over the counter last year.

11. if you have a regular family doctor...can't you request a prescription over the phone?

(i'm assuming most people with infants/kids would have a regular dr. for them)
or does the doctor want to see you anyway because it's an infant?

In this context, "smurfs" visit drug and grocery stores to purchase small, legal amounts of ephedrine or pseudoephedrine, for use in local meth labs. The individual purchases are not significant but given enough time, the purchasers can accumulate enough medications to manufacture salable or usable quantities of the illegal drug.

Meth is some really bad stuff that people can make at home and is responsible for lots of death and destruction. I doubt that it is a drug that anyone really wants to fight for.
