McCain & Rice?
I read in today's Chicago Sun Times http://www.suntimes.com/news/sneed/778822,CST-NWS-sneed06.article , Rice is a possible running-mate for McCain. I know a while ago there were rumors of Jeb getting/taking the spot. What do you think of the effect of a McCain/Rice ticket?

1. Purely cynical tokenism. Won't do a thing for Repubs, won't attract Dems.

3. Agree with the former, disagree slightly with the latter.
Yes, it'd be seen as tokenism, but a lot of Republican voters would probably like to have the chance to say that they voted for an African-American on the ticket. It would inoculate them a bit.

I don't think it'd do much, but it would help McCain a little.

2. Makes him a bit tougher to beat
Emphasis on the "bit."

It would be seen as something of a desperation move (Alan Keyes, anyone?), but I think there are a lot of Republican voters who'd be energized by something that seemed bold.

But McCain's still eminently beatable, crappy VP or not-crappy VP.

6. Maybe. But having Condi as a candidate
would highlight the GOP's lack of competency pre-9-11. "What is the name of the report?" Bin Laden to attack within the United States. She has a lot of baggage to carry for W. I doubt McCain wants to carry that with him.

4. Love it
They would easy to beat. I don't think Rice is held in high esteem by many Americans. She would sure stop any Dems who are thinking about voting for McCain.

5. Nah, McCain won't pick Rice unless his arm is twisted then
he'll go hug her and have some birthday cake with her.

7. I think . . . . no way
She stands to make a ton of money when this felonious administration is done.

Plus - I just do not think she wants to go on the campaign-trail. I don't think she wants to work that hard.

She can look scary. Her and crazy John would make a great team.

10. Rice represents all the worst of Bush foreign policy.
If McCain wants his campaign to be a referendum on the Bush administration, he should choose Rice. He can talk about WMDs, Valerie Plame, torture, and all the other things Rice has her hands in. And we're still finding things out about Rice, like her relationship with Zelikow and the 9/11 commission.

Bring it on, baby.
