Tape Shows Al Qaeda Training Kids to Kill, Kidnap
An al Qaeda training video has surfaced that depicts young boys training to kill and kidnap victims.

The video was captured in an al Qaeda safe house by U.S. troops and released by the military, USA Today reported.

Masked boys in the video are carrying weapons - assault rifles, rocket-propelled grenades and automatic weapons - that at times appear much larger than they.

Rear Adm. Gregory Smith, spokesman for the coalition command in Iraq, told the paper the video shows boys running through exercises under the supervision of trainers.

An analysis of the video provided by the U.S. command in Baghdad said the boys were proclaiming allegiance to al-Qaeda, the paper said.

1. Actually they are the most frightening- The children soldiers of Africa are a good example.
Young minds are easy to mold and control.

2. yeah...but you know, you get three or four of them together...
and what, that's like a 30 or 40 year-old full grown man. Maybe I can get a job at the White House or Pentagon with reasoning like that.

5. I wonder if this is real
Could be, but I don't take anything from al Qaeda as being necessarily the facts.

I agree about child soldiers, though--they can be dangerous, and mentally they are brainwashed and conditioned to an extent that it is nearly impossible for them to become anything else but soldiers.

19. And how many ten year olds would know the vest they were wearing...
is actually a remote-triggered bomb?

They used a retarded teen, unsuccessfully, at a border crossing in Israel several years ago, and two mentally disabled Iraqi women last week in one of the worst attacks ever. They have no limits.

I'm not a big fan of the way Israel has handled Palestine, Gaza and the West Bank, but the (para)phrase "There will be no peace until the Palestinians love their children more than they hate us" struck a deep chord with me.

It's easy enough to blame it all on religious fundamentalism, but it's really - and always - about power. Religion is a convenient tool, not the goal.

20. You got that right
Of course it is about power. I just wonder how much power al Qaeda really has in Iraq. Sadly, I'd take this more seriously if it had come from one of the militias there. I really think that, to some extent, al Qaeda is merely a CIA black op.

12. You're right.
I should have put accidental in quotes. We have seen atrocities in Iraq that were definitely not accidental.

13. If they are going to be used
to kill other people, I don't see what choice a soldier would have in that situation. This is horrific, but it is not unusual historically. Iran did the same thing to Iraq in their war, in using children as weapons.

I feel like crying (and often do) when I see pictures of them and read about them. And I make a point of keeping up with what the world is doing to help child soldiers.

10. The Muslims don't have a corner on this craziness...
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jesus_Camp

"At the camp, Fischer stresses the need for children to purify themselves in order to be part of the "army of God." She strongly believes that children need to be in the forefront of turning America toward conservative Christian values. She also feels that Christians need to focus on training kids in religious warfare since "the enemy" are focused on training theirs."

21. Thanks for posting this
I call serious BS on this, though. I heard this on NPR this morning. The Military just "happened" to find an "Al-Qaeda" tape showing kids being trained?

How stupid do they think we are?

It's already been reported that we are brainwashing Iraqi kids in various orphanages- how hard would it be to use them to make such a propaganda tool?

Our gov't must think we're morons. Oh, wait. Most of us are.

I feel the threat is completely overblown. More people die ever week from tobacco related causes than have died in total from terrorist activities.

24. Of course, let's label them 'terrorists'. Wonder how many of them are orphans of our own creation?
How many 10-year old boys watched as US soldiers dragged their fathers away in the middle of the night with sacks over them heads? How many children watched their mothers be blown to pieces by a bomb from the sky? Wonder how any child growing up in a 'war zone' could possibly learn to hate those who attacked their country? How could they not possibly love their 'liberators'?

al-Qaeda came to be because of 'blowback' to American 'foreign policies' and these children plus about a million more will provide the 'blowback' to Bush's occupation.
