Rudy Giuliani Is Not A Hero. Wes Clark? Different Story.

Rudy Giuliani is not a hero. 2/21/07

Rudy Giuliani spent the day in South Carolina, "invoking the spirit of 9/11" in a speech to local firefighters. (I'm betting he skipped the part about NYC firefighters dying on 9/11 because his administration wouldn't buy new radios.)

General Wes Clark launched a bid with Jon Soltz of VoteVets to stop the war in Iran:

One man talks the talk.

Another man walks the walk.

Your call America.

Another post by James Boyce

Rudy Giuliani Is Not A Hero. He Is, However, A Coward. 2/23/07

Rudy Giuliani is not a hero.

In fact, even The New York Times today is a little surprised that Giuliani is so scared on the campaign trail that he handpicks who gets to come see him. On the stump? Yes. Off the cuff real questions? No chance.

Could it be he doesn't want anyone asking about why he shipped Bernard Kerik out of the country or about his marriage to his cousin or his decision to put the New York City Command and Control Center next to the World Trade Center against the wishes of the FBI?

Could also be he's just a coward. Nothing more. Maybe less.

2. And This From Tom Rinaldo On Daily Kos
Part of it anyway:

" . . . It's sad to think that focusing on keeping the United States out of war rather than campaigning non stop for votes 11 months before the first primary could disqualify someone from becoming President."

Sad indeed.

P.S. He's not disqualified, he'll run and win. I for one, don't think this country is in a permanent state of sleep.

3. Wes Clark never milked his heroism in Vietnam and his Silver Star
Many people don't even realize he won the Silver Star and I don't recall him ever mentioning it during his run in 2004. I understand he also performed a courageous act in the Serbian-Bosnian conflict when he rapelled down a mountainside to try to save two Americans whose vehicle had fallen into a ravine. He took sniper fire while trying to save them; unfortunately they were already dead when he reached their vehicle. I believe it's detailed in a book by Richard Holbrooke.

As for Giuliani, when he orders a pizza on the phone, he says "by the way, I saved New York after 9/11".

5. Yes, he was a hero in both instances.
I was a Clarkie in 2004, while volunteering for Obama. ;-) Well anyway, during my days on the Clark board I learned from his other supporters every brave thing he had ever done and was duly impressed. I was waiting for him to deside if he was going to run this time before I made my decision on who I would support. I knew it would between my two guys from 2004. So now I am supporting Obama but would be very happy with a Clark/Obama or Obama/Clark ticket.

6. I would add to the last post by Boyce
Could it b he doesn't want anyone asking him as mayor just exactly what messures he used to clean up NYC (including intimidation and targeting of minorites) and why he shipped NYC's homeless to other parts of the country in order to lessen the city's homeless problem.
