I know it is just a loan, but I could use it to pay off a doctor bill

1. Not if you are a senior, a disabled vet.

I just read something...the Dems did not get it through. Will see if I can find it again.

2. I don't think it's done, yet.
I just posted this in another thread, with a link to the vote total.

http://www.senate.gov/legislative/LIS/roll_call_lists/roll_call_vote_cfm.cfm?congress=110&session=2&vote=00008

No Democrat voted against it, except Harry Reid, for procedural reasons. 8 Republicans were for it. (Snowe, Grassley, Domenici, Collins, Dole, Spector, Coleman, Smith.)

The funny thing is that an earlier vote, on Monday, was 80 to 4, in favor. Only a few hard-liners voting against. Between then and now, what may have affected that vote was the inability to agree on FISA, which the Other Side really wanted, in the worst way. (Probably, for the worst reasons, too.)

I wouldn't be surprised to see some sort of give-and-take on the two issues. If we give them FISA, there were more than enough votes Monday to get the stimulus done, the right way. (Which is really pretty obvious, if they're serious about goosing the economy, as quickly as possible.)

$500 checks, I heard, were supposed to be out some time in June. They need to get *some* money out sooner than that, which is another reason to extend the unemployment benefits. (Which I need.)

3. Don't want it if I have to pay it right back in a year
Sad thing is, most think it is free money.

4. I don't want it either if it comes
with a string attached, why owe money that I can get along just fine without. I know that not everyone is in that position but for me, thanks but no thanks.
