BABY found ALIVE in Tennessee after tornados
http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/23050298

Kyson Stowell, 11 months, is held by his grandmother Kay Stowell at a hospital in Nashville, Tenn., on Thursday. Kyson was found in a field about 100 yards away from where his house had been. His mother, Kerri Stowell, was killed.

"We grabbed hold of his neck (to take a pulse) and he took a breath of air and started crying," said David Harmon, a firefighter from a nearby county who was combing the field for tornado victims.

The boy was found at least 100 yards away from where his family's house had been, possibly lifted by the storm's fierce winds, according to witnesses at the scene on Thursday. There was no trace of exactly where the house stood. His mother, who did not survive, was found in the same field.

6. One of the guys I used to work with had to go find his family scattered across about a 100 acres
after a tornado tore through and destroyed their trailer home. Luckily no one was seriously hurt, a few bruises and cuts and a broken arm but they all survived. Today they live in an earth bermed home that only has the north side open to the world, the rest including the roof is covered with earth, looks like a small hill out in the field when looking at it from behind. Miracles do happen.

11. Castalian Springs, where this happened, is only 15 miles from me
In fact, the people whose farm I live on, know someone whose cousin was killed.

The marina where I would have been if I had managed to get my sailboat ready and back in the water last summer, was hit very hard (just over the hill from the post office and houses that were destroyed and 6 people killed). Lots of boats were damaged and an entire dock was broken loose and tossed around.

It's kinda scary living in a fiberglass sailboat when shit like that is going down, but, at least I'm on a trailer on dry land, instead of at that marina, or worse, bouncing around on open water and hoping to hell that the anchors hold.

Too close for comfort for me, but, as they said in the article, you don't see these things until they're on top of you and then it's too late. Even if watching the radar constantly, it either hits you or it hits someone else.
