Stanislaus County Golf Community Suffering

Stanislaus County Golf Community Suffering

Diablo Grande was designed to feature fabulous homes and challenging golf -- but for now, the golf has disappeared.

Diablo Grande is tucked away in the hills above Patterson in Stanislaus County. Among the hundreds of homes are two beautiful golf courses.
But lately, golf hasn't been possible, apparently because of Diablo Grande's financial problems.

Though development officials wouldn't comment on the community's status, residents are under the impression that because of a slowed housing market, golf memberships are down -- and the course is apparently too expensive to keep open.

For people who live along one of the many fairways, it's frustrating. "It's hard to see them (the courses). You want to play them. Now you're unable to play. It's tough", said Chad Pometta.

1. Patterson. Yikes!
It's either foggy and cold or sizzzling hot. Very few mild days. It's pretty close to the the East Bay for commuters nonetheless. I think in the long run, this developmetn will be ok, as long as the owners don't let it deteriorate. There is one development near where I live, nice big houses, gated community, but was built by these shady Russian guys, lots of stuff built over lot lines, local rules ignored, word got out, and it started tanking. Now a few people who paid half a million are living in a place that nature is taking back.
