Police: Man Shot Dead Over Height Of Grass
Victim's Next-Door Neighbor Charged With 1st-Degree Murder

LAUDERDALE LAKES, Fla. -- A dispute over a lawn between two neighbors in Lauderdale Lakes ended in a fatal shooting, authorities said.

According to the Broward County Sheriff's Office, Lee Andrew Macon, 49, and Jerome Jackson, 51, were arguing Thursday morning over the height of grass on Macon's lawn.

In the fight, police said Macon pulled out of a gun from his waistband and fired a shot. The two men struggled over the gun and Macon fired again, police said.

Jackson died at the scene.

7. Good thing he had a concealed carry permit to
protect himself and his family against all off that high grass.

I hope he spends the rest of his life in jail for his stupidity and killing his neighbor.

The article mentions nothing about anyone having concealed weapon permits.

38. You don't usually need one if you're on your own property
Concealed-carry permits, like driver's licences, are for public, not private, property.

Edited on Thu Feb-07-08 06:58 PM by bluerum
It such the manly thing to do.

on edit: Oh,,, I forgot,,, the (Florida) constitution gives me the right to carry a concealed weapon, and use it to kill people when I fear for my life. So I am damn well going to exercise my constitutional rights under the law!

22. another day in in South Florida
When I lived there we were lucky to even have growing grass. The drought was to the point where people were being issued citations for watering their lawn in the middle of the night.
and I once had a gun pulled on me by a drunken idiot neighbor for being a "n-word lover". I see nothing has changed.

24. One small victory for the gene pool...
One can't reproduce cause dead men can't ejaculate, and the other will have to put reproduction on hold for a few years.

I doubt he'll lack for company, though. I suspect Razor and Spike, the gigantic bald weight lifters with more tattoos than Chez Burger Roi has fries, will more than make up for Mr. Macon's state-imposed abstinence.

See you in 20, Lee Andrew, you abysmally dumb fuck.

36. This story needs more facts...
If someone came to my house and tried to start an agrument with me over something trivial I would probably tell them to get the fuck off of my property. If they choose to continue to tresspass on my property and were getting beligerent I might feel threatend and feel the need to defend myself and my family.
