So When And Why Did You Join DU?

I came here under a different name (oustemnow) right after or during the 2000 election debacle down here in Florida-spent a lot of time here then and another memorable time period was in the run up to this horrible idea of a war-senator Wellstone's plane crash and the horrible things being said by Limbaugh and the rest..how bout you guys?

1. 2002. The war that was obviously coming. George W. Bush.

I had to speak out somewhere. It was the height of insanity that everyone knew damned well that we were going to attack Iraq if the enabling resolution was passed, and neither our elected leaders nor the media were asking tough questions or even being skeptical. Huge rallies in DC, yet no coverage. I will neither forget nor forgive, especially those who will still not admit their mistake in judgment.

Us common folk saw through it. And I wanted to speak with those who felt the same way. So I found DU.

And obviously, I support Obama, and that's a big reason why.

I came in after the Bush coronation in 2001. Needed a place to mingle with folks of like mind....anti-republican' The atmosphere here is almost like the ones I came here to get away from. I'll be glad when the primaries are over and things tone down a notch.

There's not really a dime's worth of difference between Hillary and Obama, and they are both great candidates. They really should broker some kind of a deal and run together. They will both make history regardless of which job they take because we have never had a woman or a black VP, either.

Bartcop I think it was. It was neat to find a place where a lot of people shared the same ideas I had. But it was the "Top Ten Conservative Idiots" list which drew me in. I didn't lurk all that long because I had to have my say, whether people agreed with me or not. Still do as a matter of fact.

15. I came here after I saw sicko

and then called my brother in Texas to tell him about it. I then found out, in the four yeras he had been there that he had turned into Rush jr. I tried to argue with him, But I did not have the info to put up a concise rebuttal to his BULLSHIT.

So I went to google, found liberal websites and eventually found my way here. I can now argue him down to "I don't give a shit I just want to live my life the way i want it."

We don't talk much.

33. Summer 2004. I thought this place was kinda retarded at first.

Still feel that way sometimes. But when Skinner needs his annual turkee I cough up a little something so I keep my star and I keep on posting.

I joined, I guess, because I felt like things were just coming together for Kerry and that maybe the Democrats weren't going to screw the pooch and were going to actually knock Chimpy McFuckstain off his formerly 91-percent approval rating perch. I thought it'd be a good place to hang out and swap stories of the campaign.

As it turned out DU was a good place to find sympathetic ears after Kerry lost, and I still find myself coming here to check in when times are good or bad. I suspect I'll be around for awhile after November, too.

Which leads to a serious question, I'll just throw it out there even though it probably merits a new thread: What do we do about DU if we actually, you know, win big in November? I mean not just the Presidency but a filibuster-proof Senate? And what if (say) one of the Five Stooges on the SCOTUS were to resign or die, and we got THAT body of government back in sane hands?

Would we still come here and bitch, I wonder? Probably...

And my user name comes from the Irish tale of a queen who went to war to acquire a fantastic white bull. Like her, I felt drawn to battle by a load of bull (Dubya being the name of said clump).
