AG to US: FU
Edited on Fri Feb-08-08 01:38 PM by bonito
In what can’t possibly be over-reported (but, alas, will be noticed by very few—it is not on the front page of the New York Times, for instance, and their short story about the hearing, buried deep inside, only mentions the AG’s face off with Congress over cocaine sentencing guidelines), Mukasey made several startling declarations:

# No, the Justice Department will not be investigating whether the now-admitted-to waterboarding of US prisoners was against the law.

# And, no, the DoJ will not be investigating whether the Bush Administration’s warrantless surveillance was illegal. Nor will the AG appoint a special prosecutor to investigate.

# And, no, the Department of Justice will not enforce any contempt citations that Congress might bring against administration officials that have failed to honor subpoenas for testimony. more http://www.theseminal.com/2008/02/08/ag-to-us-fu/

1. Can the Sergeant at Arms arrest him when he comes to Congress again?
That mace looks rather heavy and intimidating.

3. There has to be a better way of appointing an AG.
The AG needs to be independent so that they are more loyal to the law than to the President or the party. Look at the partisan, loyal Bushies that Bush has appointed and the senate has approved. Yikes. There can be no justice with AGs like that.

4. knr for something that should be pasted everywhere.
We are officially living under a War Crimes Administration.

They went public with the fact that they have tortured and can if they want.

The International Community is taking note, now. Wondering why the hell the war criminals still have titles. It is a sad, disgraceful week for America.

Conyers office told me today, Pelosi says Impeachment is off the table, and that will make it impossible for the bill to go anywhere.

6. Yay! He voluntarily quit!
When an employee refuses to do required tasks, it's called a voluntary quit.

No unemployment check for Mukasey!

7. k&r for an important thread
I am so sick of the mal-administration!

I just don't understand why impeachment isn't the first thing on every representative who took an oath to protect the Constitution of the United States.

They should all be thrown into the streets and chased from our nation's capitol by a crowd bearing torches and pitchforks.

:grr:
