How dangerous is Huckabee
Just watch his CPAC speech and be your own judge.

1. He's More Dangerous To His Own Party...
The backstory on the CPAC slimefest is the fight that will begin the day after the election...who will pick up the pieces. Mittens and the Huckster threw out a lot of red meat in hopes that they become the next Raygun. His sticking around in the primary is giving McCain the big finger and cozying up to the hate radio crowd...his meal ticket in the future.

2. True but what do leaders around the world
think after hearing this madness.
Anything that allows them to devour one another is good news to me although I believe the Fuckabee lovefest with the lunatic fringe is the only way they know to fire up the base.

The truth is that it isn't working since Rethugs are not turning out to vote. What's more the number of Dems voting in primaries must be scaring them big time.

The crazy alliance has a crack that looks more like a chasm. :hi:

6. More Like A Crevice...
...and cratering more by the day.

Honestly...what could any GOOPer say to get foreign heads shaking than what this current regime has done? The xenophobia shown by the GOOP is part of the "bona fides" that show some perverted form of strength...the isolationist attitude mixed in with a dose of religious rhetoric.

I watched some of the CPAC speeches and it looked more like a Young Repugnicans convention...it's gotten more exclusive over the years and more rabid...but its also being exposed more and scaring voters when they see it. The fun is how conflicted and confused they are...chasing their tails this primary season as no one candidate was strong enough and now that they have the strongest of the weakest, they're ready to jump ship.

Many here believe the GOOP is some inevitable machine. It was when you had criminals like Rove and DeLay running things. Both are gone and the "base" is looking for the next Raygun. But then I don't think Raygun would satisfy them.

12. I was trying to figure out which speaker should win
the most delusional award but they were all winners. The funniest one was Rick Perry who started out with John Madison (he did correct himself quickly) and then ranted on and on about open and accountable government. I missed a lot of it as I was choking with laughter.

"doesn´t this guy have any advisors?"

16. Bwaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaah
Maybe the advisers thought it was a great speech. I mean they all sounded like imperial bullies who obey no laws except those they make up as they go along. For all their rants about preserving life, they support genocide.

3. Thanks malaise for the link,
and for giving me the opportunity to "be the judge".

He is dangerous. He represents the problem.

He speaks of equality, but then holds "Americans" above the rest of the world´s population.

He speaks of peace, but supports the build up of military capacity.

He´s a scaredy cat who thinks that other countries want to do him harm.

He speaks of a right to life, without respecting the lives of 95% of the world´s population.

He doesn´t want to give up his citizenship, because if he moved to any other country, he would have to get a real job.

My vote: He should disappear.

7. That´s a funny thought,
a large number of people are asking the universe for a couple of skipped heartbeats, and an equally large number of people are asking the universe to keep that heartbeat moving right along ... well, it´s probably not easy being the universe these days, trying to keep all of those people happy.

17. I haven't really paid great attention
to him, but one thing he said in a speech really scared me. I'm sorry I don't have a link or even any way to find one, but he said he wanted to change the Constitution to be more in line with God. Yeah.. I think he's very dangerous.

Well, ANY repub is dangerous IMO.

18. Here's a link
http://rawstory.com/news/2007/Huckabee_Amend_Constitution_to_meet_Gods_0115.html

<snip>
"I have opponents in this race who do not want to change the Constitution," Huckabee told a Michigan audience on Monday. "But I believe it's a lot easier to change the Constitution than it would be to change the word of the living god. And that's what we need to do -- to amend the Constitution so it's in God's standards rather than try to change God's standards so it lines up with some contemporary view."

Guess he never read this

You have no oath registered in heaven to destroy the Government, while I shall have the most solemn one to "preserve, protect, and defend it." Lincoln's 1861 inaugural address

20. I can't download the speech for some reason, but I have long said he is the most dangerous devil.
There are not just brass knuckles in that velvet glove, therein lie the ongoing death of the U.S. He is not just a Christofascist preacher, but slick enough to coax millions of uninformed into his web and to make things like endless mass murder, war, torture, hate, homophobia, all seem somehow not just "okay," but "right" somehow.

Watch that little devious devil.

25. He is a hail-fellow-wellmet snake oil/used car salesman at best.
His theology is "ad hoc," as are his politics, and one might go so far as to call them "ad hominen," that is, beyond the usual Republican appeal to both those who fear for others' souls as well as not desiring to pay taxes or outlaw strip mining.

I like to call him "Rev. Mr. Presidential Candidate Hugabe," due to his remarkable venal supeficial similiarity to President Mugabe and his unenlightened attitudes towards HIV, economics, and religion.

Rev. Mr. Presidential Candidate Hugabe evidently is a firm follower of the Leviticus and Exodus trump the Gospel of John School of Fundamentalist Xian Theology: one step shy of leaping off the cliff into the whirling cesspool of Xian Reconstructionism and Dominionism.

One imagines that he would give Israel literal carte blanche to "finally settle" the Palestinian Question, as Gawd has ordained it to be thus. The strict "once saved always saved" aspect of Southern Baptist thought rather appals me: one has walked forward after an appeal to emotion and now has a get out of hell free card for life, no effort need be taken to change the world, other than "witnessing" so others can get their card.

The perpetual get out of hell free card is why so many S.B.s are able to do more than play footsie with big business: they like what they see in the control and since they are guaranteed Rapture, why bother with the environment, civil rights (so long as theirs aren't hindered), or peace when war pays so much better.

But on the bright side, the Enlightenment Philosophy still does reign in at least the surface of the Constitution and most statue law, so I doubt he could ever get much of his agenda beyond the laughing stage in Congress, were God even to directly intervene.

26. Ewww...he's a lip-smacker. He makes that little smacking noise when he talks...
in between sentences, like he doesn't have enough saliva, and his lips stick together. Yuck...couldn't watch it all. That noise just drove me nuts and grossed me out.

And, yes, on the serious, less superficial side, he is very dangerous.
