Al Gore, Oscar Winner.
Who's going to watch? I can't wait to see him win. If only he'd announce a presidential bid from the stage . . .

1. Results more important than the show
It'd be nice if Gore won. The Oscar show is boring TV though. I'll sort of check it like White Sox box scores the day after the game.

2. I hope he doesn't announce his candidatacy until the last minute
no sense in giving the opposition another day longer to smear him. He'll be getting it from the repukes and I'm not sure if maybe from some of the Democratic candidates. I think America wants him to be President, I know I sure do.

3. Not trying to be nasty but
Gore does need the Slim Fast plan before he gets into it. We haven't had a president as big as him since Taft. TV makes it worse.

7. Whoa
I'm just being honest about the guy. I didn't say he was bad or anything, he just needs to get ready to be on TV.

18. Yeah. Why give the over paid fat assed pundits
any more ammunition other than "Earth tones" and "alpha male" to smear him with? :sarcasm:

8. Do you have a bias against obese people? His weight doesn't
have anything to do with his qualifications for president.

9. Think about 1960
In 1960, Nixon and Kennedy had a debate on television. Kennedy won it - partly because Nixon looked like shit. People who heard it on the radio thought Nixon won. It's not all but appearance is something.

13. Kennedy won the debate. So did Kerry, by a LONG shot.
And in terms of 'attractiveness', Kerry has it hands down compared to B* (who can't even think, much less speak.) And BTW, Gore has already been elected by the only will that counts in a supposed democracy ...that of the People.

6. I doubt he's running, though I wish he would
Private life has been very good to Al. He gets to do what he pleases, wear what he wants, put on a few pounds and lose them at his leisure, plus he doesn't have to spend most of his time asking other people for campaign contributions and deadling with unfair media coverage. Only a Happy Warrior type would be chomping at the bit to return to the steel cage match that is American politics, and that's not Al.

All of which is unfortunate because he is on the right side of the major issues of our time and his experience is unmatched. For the sake of the best possible competition and result for the Dems, I'd love to see him get in. Don't see it happening.

10. I'm planning the menu
for my 'watch the oscars with Ellen Degeneres and see Al Gore make an awesome speech' party. (umm, not that I really care that much about it or anything).

11. In case you have not seen it
I just posted most of an article on Gore and his "rock star" status now. It also addresses many of the issues discussed here, including his running for P. http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=view_all&address=102x2745139

To go directly to the article it is at http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/17321273/

I read in an article the other day that Gore would not run in 2009 due to the cut throat tactics of one of the democratic candidates. This supposedly came from a member of his group who wanted to remain annimous. Don't say this is true or not, just something that I read. Won't post the article link unless really have to.

16. He's not actually going to win the Oscar
Edited on Sun Feb-25-07 10:35 AM by terrya
The producer of "An Inconveient Truth" will be the recipent of the Oscar. But I do hope Al Gore goes up to the podium as well. It really is his movie.
