Poll question: the dog whisperer and today's campaign fights.
Ceasar Millan is National Geographic's "Dog Whisperer". An incredible guy, doing incredible things, within incredible dogs.

If you have not seen his shows, I highly recommend them. I have a rescue dog and a "hugh" puppy.
Even if you have a great dog (and when are dogs ever bad?) you can learn things from him.

One thing that strikes the casual viewer is how Ceasar deals with HUMANS, not dogs. As he says, he rehabs dogs, but he trains humans.

Sheesh. We could use a good dose of his medicine here, and on other blogsites. The Hillarians are insulting (and feel offended by) Obamites, and vice versa.

What are his rules? Stay calm. Stay in control. Maintain leadership. Be assertive. Match with discipline the anger or over-excitement from the dog.

OK. Why not apply his rules here? Instead of automatic cut-offs of number of posts, or starting new threads, or dealing with ignore numbers, I think we can apply his rules for rational behavior and behavior modification.

Those who have a rough message, who threaten to upset people's apple carts, well, they may have more than their share of ignores, but we have to consider that we are the church, and they are Galileo. OK, some are nothing but troublemakers, but, perhaps there are those who can teach us.

So, here's the question. Can we apply his philosophy and psychology to DU?

2. I just got Dish last month and recently started watching Ceasar.
It's easily a top 5 show. National Geographic and The Science Channel are amazing. I spend most of my TV time there.

My dog isn't aggressive at all, but she is already benefiting from what Ceasar has taught me about "packs". I'm not really sure his methods are applicable here because dogs can't vote. I wish they could though. :)

He's a master at what he does, and entertaing too boot. I agree with previous poster that Dog Whisperer is a great show and some terriffic stuff on Nat'l Geographic channel.

As for your question - "Can we apply his philosophy and psychology to DU?" - I'm not sure... maybe if we could get leashes on folks, or train them with treats there might be a chance!

I lived with a pack of 11 wolves some years back and learned some things about pack dynamics - it's fascinating to see how the puppies "play fight" to try to establish dominance and how bonded they all are.
