Google News Archive Search -Amazing New Feature!
Edited on Sun Feb-25-07 08:02 AM by better2know
Google News Archive Search

http://news.google.com/archivesearch

"News archive search provides an easy way to search and explore historical archives. In addition to helping you search, News archive search can automatically create timelines which show selected results from relevant time periods."

Researchers, OMG!

From Frequently Asked Questions

http://news.google.com/archivesearch/help.html

What content is included in News archive search?

News archive search searches across a large collection of historical archives including major newspapers/magazines, news archives and legal archives. Search results include both content that accessible to all users (such as BBC News, Time Magazine and Guardian) and content that requires a fee (such as Washington Post Archives, Newspaper Archive, and New York Times Archives).

How do I use News archive search?

From the Google News home page you can click on the link that says "News archive search" or you can go to http://news.google.com/archivesearch to use news archive search. In addition, for selected queries, results from News archive search will be integrated into Google Web Search as a separately marked group.

For the sealed off articles sometimes you can google the article's name or key phrases and find a free link or posting.

This Rocks! I always wanted to check the Friday/Holiday/Disaster News Dumps going back through history.

-Sorry if this is a dupe.

6. OK, let's try Prescott Bush Nazi
And let's try that in the advanced search area, and let's use the date range of 1935 and 1990, just for fun.

I assume the typos are caused by an OCR program scanning the text of old hard copies. Gotta pay for articles or enroll, but this will be a boon to determined muckrakers!
