2. I've just got Carl Levin so far
It starts at 10:30 here. He's doing a great job. I'm so glad he's my senator. He gave a great speech at our convention yesterday.

9. Carl's performance was on MTP was outstanding
Probably because it wasn't a "performance." Honest, straight talk.

And the best thing about Carl's straight talk is that it is not contrived like McCain or Joe Biden who make sure and point out that they're giving you the "straight talk" 10 times every time they're in front of a camera.

His answer to the charge of playing politics was spot on. The Dems are pursuing this strategy because it's vital that they succeed. A failed vote to cut funds would be interpreted as an endorsement of Bush's strategy.

Carl Levin is a great man, a great public servant, and we are damn lucky to have such a good person representing us in the Senate in such an important job at such an important time. He's a workhorse not a showhorse. He'll never be on Oprah and he doesn't stick his thumbs out every time he rattles off some pre-rehearsed point to try to look like Bobby Kennedy. He's just an honest man. Why the hell can't we live in a world where a person like him could be President?

17. You're so right, Strawman
His speech yesterday -- where he officially announced his candidacy for '08 -- was humorous at times (I'll be posting a video of a bit of it later), forceful, honest, straightforward.....I'll be so sorry when he retires (my guess would be after his next term, but who knows). We really need to start grooming someone to take over when he's done. Depending on what the governor is doing in 2014, I'm hoping she'll run for his seat.

7. It is not his age, per se
It is his spirit and integrity. They have died and need to be buried where they can RIP.

10. I wouldn't be so quick to write off his age
Edited on Sun Feb-25-07 11:14 AM by rocknation
The way McCain's been contradicting himself almost hourly may be more symptomatic of short-term memory loss than flip-flopping.

18. Age and short term memory loss does not do this.
I'm 61, have had my short term memory damaged by age and illness, and I don't contradict myself or flip flop. This happens when you lie. My ex-husband is a perfect example of this.

My daughter needs to buy a different car. Her father came in the other day and said he had found a 2003 expensive car for $2500. When I questioned him on this, he suddenly changed his story, and then attacked us for considering buying a used car. I questioned him because he lies constantly and has taken us down this road so many times it is pitiful. My kids have had their hopes built up so many times by him only to have them smashed when they found out it was all just him lying to make himself look good. Hence we are back to mccain. He tells one thing to make himself look good, and when that doesn't work, he tells another lie to try to rectify what damage he did with his first lie.

running for President on Bush's agenda, he's coming back for more ABUSE!!!

Like a physically/verbally abused wife.....he keeps going back for more.
He feels comfortable in dark environments.

11. I like it when Dowd said that
she misses McCain, even when she's with him. There was a time when he seemed to have some integrity...it's LONG GONE.

She summed it up right there. He used to have some attractive qualitlies. They have up and left.

I've always found him to be scum.

15. I actually liked him when he was a candidate in 2000.
Edited on Sun Feb-25-07 11:21 AM by napi21
Probably one reason was because I detested Shrub from the first time I saw him! But I did find it refreshing when McCain was driving around the Country in the "Straight Talk Express" bus. At the time, he did answer all the questions he was asked, and sounded honest.

Maybe it was all for show, but it looked real back then.

That man is long gone now, and I haven't like what I've seen for many years!

12. McCain wasn't shoved into the vortex. He jumped in.
I hope his support of Dubya and Dick and all the warmongers in their administration haunts him to his dying day.

McCain is a smarter man than Dubya and Dick combined but gambled on an unseemly and unholy alliance to placate the Far Right.

Shame on John McCain.
