3 Men Face Federal Charges In Burning Of Mosque
NASHVILLE, Tenn. (AP) -- Three men are facing federal charges after being accused of fire-bombing a small mosque in Columbia.

First Assistant U.S. Attorney Paul O'Brian said the charges announced Tuesday are related to explosives, rather than hate crimes, but more charges could be filed.

Authorities said Eric Ian Baker, Michael Corey Golden and Jonathan Edwards Stone, all of Columbia, had planned for a week to burn down the Islamic Center of Columbia, which was located in a storefront.

The men are accused of using gasoline, rags and empty beer bottles to set the fire Saturday.

The federal complaint said that at least one of the men said he was part of the extreme fundamentalist Christian Identity movement.

1. Mmmm...
A triumph of recessive genes, those three. It is so sad when siblings mate and spawn, isn't it? It was nice of the police photographer to wipe the chaw drool off their chins before taking the picture, however.

Something tells me the third guy plays the banjo and was once in a movie. I might be mistaken. ;-)

2. "My superstition is better than your superstition!"
What a bunch of idiots.

The horrible things religion makes people do. Glad that I have no part of it.

4. This happened in my county seat. The good news is that the 3 bastards were caught in 12 hours.
Columbia, TN is within 30 minutes of Pulaski, the birthplace of the Ku Klux Klan. We have quite a sordid history of racism here. So to see all local, state and federal law enforcement agencies lined up together to condemn this arson and to capture the thugs so fast is something to be thankful for.

However, fewer Southern stereotypes (as appear upthread) would be nice. I still remember the Pulitzer Prize photo of a Black man being stabbed with an American flag on a pole in Boston not so many years ago.
