The committee's lawyer talks to the defendant's lawyer and they either make an appointment for the defendant to speak to the committee, or they make a deal.

With inherent contempt, the Sargent-at-Arms goes and arrests the defendant. There are still cells in the Capitol Building basement built for the express purpose of holding such defendants.
