however for this shooting in Illinois, not much.

It's not continuous coverage like that shooting was.

Isn't it odd that on a day when the Republicans pull a political stunt that there is significantly less media coverage of an event that would usually garner far more attention?

Did I miss something about these shootings? 18 people were shot. That's usually something the media would exploit. Just look at the hours covering those church shootings here in my home state of CO.

What's up?

2. Yeah, but why not on cable? The Situation Room is doing tons of other political stories...
MSNBC has Hardball, very little said.

Even FOX doesn't have much.

It just seems a little odd.

I'm not really saying much here, just making an observation.

5. How many deaths?
Maybe that had something to do with it.

11. 5 dead
That must not have anything to do with it.

Probably the networks had all there right wing shills lined up for today and didn't want to cancel them.

That makes more sense.

8. I may be seeing something that's not there...
but I noticed it, and it seem at least that there hasn't been the non-stop coverage as there is in many other situations.

9. NIU's not all that close to Chicago (I did my grad work there) so it
takes time for the camera trucks & reporters to get to the scene. I'd estimate minimally 90 minutes from any of the Chicago studios to the DeKalb campus under low traffic conditions.

16. They're covering the horse race
They're also appear to be playing down the shootings this week. This one is the 3rd or 4th and several people were shot here. Looks like the M$M cartel received a message.
I expect Anderson Cooper to give this serious coverage later.

At the end of the day, Bush's promotion of violence everywhere is coming back to hurt innocent people. People are raw and guns are available everywhere.
I hope at least one DUer is keeping the numbers of shootings in schools, universities and Malls since the beginning of the year.
