2. Old Mother Reagan, by the Violent Femmes....
Old mother Reagan
And her crew
Took away
From me and you
I hope she goes far away
She better go far away
Yknow it aint right
When its all wrong
This is the old mother Reagan
Protest song
Old mother Reagan
Shes so dumb
Shes so dangerous
How come she don't go far away
She better go far away
Old mother Reagan went to heaven
But at the pearly gates
She was stopped!

3. Weren't 'RayGun' Democrats the original Yuppies?!
Edited on Fri Feb-15-08 03:56 AM by Breeze54
The one's I hate the most?!? :grr: :evilfrown:

The one's who I consider the 'turncoats' of 'the movement' back in the '60's' & '70's?!?

The one's who are now logging onto DU and posting apologies? :grr:

"So sorry I fucked all your lives up for 8 fucking years + but now I'm in Repuke Recovery! I've returned!!!!!" :puke:

How and why do they expect me to be 'so forgiving' after all the hate they voted for... twice? :grr:

I just can't wrap my head around it and I suspect they're the Blue Dogs I hate today!! :nuke:

:argh:

14. I suspect they were unreformed Dixiecrat racists...
and blue collar Archie Bunker types. I also think they turned "Republican" for a while when it was all the xenophobic rage, but they will now deny that they ever were. Now that it is clear that the republican party has screwed this country every which way to Sunday, they'll now describe themselves as "Independents" and "Libertarians".

20. some "hippie leftists" certainly became greedy capitalists
and some became neocons

of course many of them always were those things pursuing power above ideology all along

but the raygun coalition was built in the suburbs and the factories, not the penthouses and co-ops.

12. Glad to help.
It's good to know there's at least one other well armed person out there who starts frothing at the mouth when they hear how Saint Ronnie's words echoed around the world to win the cold war, yada yada yada... You know, I haven't received a liemail like that in a long time. I guess those right wingers got tired of getting their asses handed to them.

Pleased ta meetcha, BTW.

9. Did you know that puts it to Hillary also!

But no president can do it alone. She must break recent tradition, cast cronyism aside and fill her cabinet with the best people, not only the best Democrats, but the best Republicans as well.. We’re confident she will do that. Her list of favorite presidents - Washington, Adams, Jefferson, Lincoln, both Roosevelts, Truman, George H.W. Bush and Reagan - demonstrates how she thinks.

13. It hurts Obama and Clinton and I don't like it one bit.
Edited on Fri Feb-15-08 09:56 AM by SIMPLYB1980
"I do think that, for example, the 1980 election was different. I mean, I think Ronald Reagan changed the trajectory of America in a way that, you know, Richard Nixon did not and in a way that Bill Clinton did not. He put us on a fundamentally different path because the country was ready for it. They felt like, you know, with all the excesses of the 60's and the 70's and government had grown and grown but there wasn't much sense of accountability in terms of how it was operating and he tapped into what people were already feeling. Which is, people wanted clarity, we want optimism, we want a return to that sense of dynamic and entrepreneurship that had been missing, alright? I think Kennedy, twenty years earlier, moved the country in a fundamentally different direction. So I think a lot of it just has to do with the times."

Edited to add: At least when Clinton "praised" Raygun she didn't bash a true Democrat while doing it.
;)
