George "Night Of The Living Dead" Romero on his "Land of the Dead" as Bush administration parable

"Land of the Dead" (2005): Three years after a zombie takeover, the remaining humans are holed up in a walled city, where the rich exploit the poor. "This one was about paranoia," Romero says. "At this point, 9/11 was the new normal. So the film refers to pre- and post-9/11. I guess it was a slap at the Bush administration."

2. I saw that in a theater when it was first released...

...so many people have imitated Romero over the years that it's sometimes hard to appreciate what a wallop his films packed back in the day.
