The Harris poll points out that recent presidents tend to be listed more often as both the best and the worst. In a separate poll asking Americans to name the worst commander-in-chief since World War II, Bush won in a landslide, netting 34 percent of the vote.

The online survey posed this question to 2,302 adults in the U.S.: Which one of the following presidents do you think was the best overall president in our history?

The list of options people could choose from included all presidents since Franklin Roosevelt, along with some of the more famous from earlier in American history – George Washington, John Adams, Thomas Jefferson, Andrew Jackson, Abraham Lincoln, Theodore Roosevelt, Woodrow Wilson and Calvin Coolidge.

Scores were tallied by adding the percentage of those who answered “best” and “second best” for each president. Among modern leaders, Ronald Reagan ranked highest, but even his cache could not compete with the mighty Abe Lincoln, who was named the top president by 20 percent of those surveyed.

9. It's A Cartoon World They Live In

Also known as the "paralell universe". It's one where its own history is either created or revised to suit the blunderbust of the moment.

As has been shown over and over again, the real Raygun would never measure up the cartoon one the dead-enders genuflect to these days. It's a myth that nowhere resembles what the reality was...and now perpetuated by people who weren't aware of much in the 80s.

To a degree, I see the same thing done with JFK...due to his short tenure, he never did accomplish a lot that people give him credit for...or build in some ideals to the man that weren't quite where he was and what he stood for.

think this story is a Rush Limpdick fabrication. Bush has taken this country from having the largest surplus in it's history (thanks to Bill Clinton) to having the largest defiicit in it's history. The monstrous amount of money he has spent on his worthless stinking war in Iraq would have been much better spent on a concentrated effort to find and kill Bin Laden. Gee, there may have even been some money left over to feed and house the poor in THIS COUNTRY. Naw! That would be a terrible waste. We would do much better to continue killing people who never attacked us. Hey everyone . . . WAKE UP! THERE WERE NO WMD'S IN IRAQ!
