Deadliest week of the war
2/10/68 to 2/17/68. 543 kia and 2547 wounded during the Tet offensive. 40 years ago lest we forget.

That's why some of us were in the streets, where are the young today?

And yes I'm having some bad memories this week.

It was all for nothing.

1. Thanks for the reminder, my friend. I think.
You broke my heart by bringing it up, but I remember it well.

And that was just U.S. troops, of course. It was, indeed, all for nothing. But only so long as we fail to learn from it - which we have done - and fail to fight against it now - which we have not yet stopped doing.

Not by a long shot. Peace be with you.

So many served, and fought, and died.

I honor them.

4. I had just gotten out of the hospital after acquiring some bullet holes
in December '67. I remember being on perimeter guard on a small LZ along the II Corps seacoast the night Tet began. Watched four separate village celebrations turn into firefights. Skyrockets got replaced with red and white tracers spraying around.

5. be no forgetting here
my tour started in june of 69 and lasted thru oct of 70. sometimes in my sleep I still go back, oftentimes I wonder if maybe I shouldn't go back for a visit to see to heal. War is hell and especially when its all based on a pack of lies like Vietnam and Iraq were/is. Lets bring our Soldiers home as there is no winning this. If it was possible to win what the hell would we be winning, the graves of thousands of innocent people

6. My father-in-law, who I was never able to meet,
was one of the KIA during the Tet offensive. Thanks for remembering Ben.

7. So sad.
Some do take a stand today. January ,2007 before the surge there were over 500,000 on the mall in DC. All ages with many young people, middle agers, older folks and people with kids in backpacks. It was very exhilarating to be a part of that many people making a stand. Little or no coverage on MSM. How do we combat that? Hard to believe that was just over a year ago! Peace to you, Kim

8. The youth are listening to iPods, rolling their eyes at "boomers", and chatting about Hillary/Obama
The "chatting about Hillary/Obama" part is only true if they are "politically active types."

9. My brand new husband (12-67) got his "Greetings" that week.
He left for Ft. Polk before my birthday in March. We were so scared. Stop the war now. Bring them all home. Try Bush-Cheney for war crimes so we may begin to redeem ourselves in the eyes of the world. Peace to all you veterans. And love. Lots of love.

10. "forty years ago" will be a tough phrase all this year, and the next couple
I dread seeing each anniversary come up remembering 1968. Talk about the excesses of the 60's!
