Realtors cast aside careers in effort to make ends meet
Slump has Realtors selling cars, waiting tables

Erica Solvig • The Desert Sun • February 17, 2008

Real estate was like matchmaking for Rosemary Chapman.

....

She mostly worked with investors, who would buy multiple homes, fix 'em up and sell them for a profit. In 2005, she sold the Frank Sinatra House in Palm Springs. Commissions were plentiful.

....

Chapman's salary used to be in the six figures. In 2006, she cleared $26,000.

And with no homes sold since last February and a depleting savings account, Chapman in August had to find another job to make ends meet. She began selling cars at Honda of the Desert.

1. I won't be happy until all realtors are cleaning toilets.
They are among the bastards that made sure that modest priced homes don't exist. They aren't alone, but they have done their best to keep that trend going. Thanks to people like them, I will never be able to own a home. Let them grab their brushes and bottles of Ty-D-Bowl, and learn what it is to earn a real living.

4. Yup, you can bet as fast as the money was coming in,
it was going out again - wide screen TVs, SUVs, vacations in exotic locals etc. etc.

3. El Pinko...
try to remain very still...there are two cats on yer shoulders...

Seriously, though...with everybody and their brother (or sister) jumping into the realestate biz during the expansion of the market it isn't any wonder a contraction would bring a bunch of reduced income to these folks...
