RIP Dave, sorry you had such an asshole for a master, but I guess it proves it's not all icewater running through his veins if he found it in his heart to care for you. As a dog lover (and a Lab owner) I guess this is the one trickle of humanity I can find in the man.

Farewell, Dave

Vice President Dick Cheney's yellow lab, Dave, has died, the vice presidential press office confirmed yesterday. Dave had been a Cheney family companion since long before they took office in 2001; he made the news on Halloween when the Cheneys dressed him up as Superman. On Feb. 6, the VP and his motorcade whisked Dave to Friendship Hospital for Animals in Tenleytown for a checkup.

The Cheneys also have a black lab, Jackson.

Of course, I trained Sirius to poop there. That is another story, oft told on DU. But in the hundreds of miles that I probably walked (in rain, sleet, snow, ice, dark, and shine) sweet Sirius in Cheney's neighborhood, I never once saw either of the Cheney's walking their dog, assuming they had Dave (or any other dog) then. Maybe the servants walked the Cheney's dog.

But RIP, Dave. I hope you are with sweet Sirius in doggie heaven now.
