One thing I have to give McCain
his wife is absolutely gorgeous, especially for a Republican.

3. Oh, no argument from me ...
Cindy is absolutely gorgeous!!!

And while we're on the subject, I'll give McCain credit for one other thing: his sense of humour. His stint on SNL a few years ago was priceless, especially his imitation of Ashcroft: "This country will never be safe until every American man, woman and child is in prison!"

7. While we're waxing nostalgic ...
... it's really very sad. This was a man that, at one time, I truly admired and respected - and I don't think I'm alone in saying that.

So John McCain, sad to say, goes the way of Colin Powell and others who were once thought to be voices of reason, and have proven themselves to be part of the insanity ...

13. Did you find his "joke"
about Chelsea Clinton funny? "Why is Chelsea Clinton so ugly? Because Janet Reno is her father."
Yeah. He's a funny guy.

18. It should seem obvious ...
... that no, I was not talking about that joke - which wasn't a joke, but a right-wing non-funny that had been making the rounds for a while when McCain (to his discredit) repeated it.

19. To me, even repeating that joke
invalidates your claim to his admirable sense of humor. Of course, he did have that side-splitting joke about lawyers and barracudas last week. Yep. No one had heard that one before. Sorry. You're not selling me on the McCain sense of humor.

21. Don't worry. You'll have better luck
with those on the right. No doubt they find his Chelsea jokes and lawyer barracuda jokes funny, too. After all, they still find the Monica BJ jokes hysterical.

4. With his hot temper and emotional mood swings
she's also got to be a pretty strong woman.

You're definitely right - she doesn't have that republican "stepford wife" look to her. As bad as McCain would be as president, she would be a far better first lady than Laura Bush or Babs "they're poor anyway" Bush.

that mean nothing when something "gorgeous" comes along.

12. Hey, she was blond, hot, 25 and a beer-distributor heiress
with a big bankroll from her daddy that he knew would come in handy should he want to run for office.

Why be faithful to the woman who raised his kids alone while he was imprisoned?

17. Not to mention knew all the RIGHT (emphasis intended) people.
The conventional wisdom among longtime AZ politicos (like me) is that she's the power--and the ambition--behind the pants.

15. This is the woman who ran a charity hospital to score opiates for herself.
Edited on Mon Feb-18-08 09:43 PM by blondeatlast
When the news was about to hit, she fired the director of the charilty and did the tearful, soul-cleansing thing, which most of us knew was a crock (this "lady" is COOOLD).

Cindy McCain--likely the person that introduced him to Charles Keating and the rest of the Arizona Republican Machine (and oh, yes, it's a machine here).

Filthy rich and utterly ambitious and ran a charity to score opiates for herself. I hate to burst bubbles, but this woman makes an Iron Maiden look warm and inviting--and this story will NEVER get enough play for me.

Don't be fooled--I've met this ice maiden on more than one occasion. :scared:

You're U.S. Senator John McCain, and you've got a big problem.
Your wife, Cindy, was addicted to prescription painkillers. She stole pills from a medical-aid charity she heads and she used the names of unsuspecting employees to get prescriptions.

The public is about to find out about it.
Until now, you've managed to keep it all quiet. When Tom Gosinski, a man your wife fired, sued for wrongful termination and threatened to expose the whole sordid story, you didn't hesitate to call in the big guns.

John Dowd, the attorney who got you out of your Keating Five mess, worked on getting your wife a sweetheart deal with federal prosecutors. He also made Gosinski's lawsuit go away. (more at link and much more in AZ media)

16. Did you know it was her family's money
that propelled McCain into politics? Her parents own Hensley and Co,, one of the largest Anheuser Busch distributorships in the country. She also founded AMVT, a non-profit, which sends medical personnel to war torn areas. In 1989, she became addicted to painkillers (like Percocet and Vicoden) and resorted to stealing drugs from her own charitable organization. She entered rehab. after a federal investigation which resulted in financial restitution.
