What everyone should know about Cindy McCain. The media will present her as gracious and genteel--
Edited on Mon Feb-18-08 10:05 PM by blondeatlast
mark my words--but she's the power behind him. She's the product of a filthy rich and longtime political mover and shaker family--very, very RW--and likely was his key to meeting the immensely powerful, corrupt, holier-than-thou Charles Keating.

Oh, yeah--and she set up a children's charity to score opiates for her own habit--then cruelly dismissed the director when the story was about to go public.

You may be familiar with your local New Times--very credible alternative weekly. what you may not know is that it started right here in Phoenix to offset the then radically RW Arizona Republic and Phoenix Gazette (both owned by the same family). They are immensely respected for their investigative reports (those of you interested in our Sherriff Joe Arpaio would do well to watch the site).

Please--read this in it's entirety--very eye-opening and there's PLENTY more on this story where this came from.

You're U.S. Senator John McCain, and you've got a big problem.
Your wife, Cindy, was addicted to prescription painkillers. She stole pills from a medical-aid charity she heads and she used the names of unsuspecting employees to get prescriptions.

The public is about to find out about it.
Until now, you've managed to keep it all quiet. When Tom Gosinski, a man your wife fired, sued for wrongful termination and threatened to expose the whole sordid story, you didn't hesitate to call in the big guns.

John Dowd, the attorney who got you out of your Keating Five mess, worked on getting your wife a sweetheart deal with federal prosecutors. He also made Gosinski's lawsuit go away.

He didn't stop there.
To help maintain your reputation and discredit your wife's accuser, Dowd called Maricopa County Attorney Richard Romley and complained that Gosinski was trying to extort money. Romley, your Republican ally, promptly launched an extortion investigation. (more)

Edit: Link--my bad! http://www.phoenixnewtimes.com/1994-09-08/news/opiate-for-the-mrs/

Sorry, CatWoman--since you posted on her earlier--but there is so much dirt on this, um, woman, and I just KNOW that the media is going to fall in love with the public McCain--not the cold, calculating, husband-stealing powerful heiress and polico she REALLY is.

Katie Couric was recently criticized for saying that Cindy's eyes look like those of a husky dog. They do.

I don't know if C.M. wear contacts or not, not my business. But my sisters and myself have different shades of light eyes from from bright blue to grey. One has very similar to the husky in the picture. I would not want to be compared to a dog. As for the other things I will read and form my own opinion. Katie Couric can be a catty twit sometimes. Go back to your morning show and do some cooking!

60. If you think Teresa Heinz Kerry was nothing other than the money she had,
I feel sorry for you. She is a brilliant, caring woman with enormous accomplishments in her own right, who was attacked by the RW because she was married to Senator Kerry. She would have been an exceptionally inspiring first lady. Senator Kerry is not running - you should know better than perpetuating this garbage.

78. I don't think that was meant as a slam against
Teresa Heinz Kerry at all. I just think he was pointing out that the media was all over her yammering about her money this, her money that, calling her a crazy rich old lady attempting to buy her husband the presidency, etc., etc., ad nauseaum. And yet we hear absolutely nothing about Cindy McCain, who really IS a crazy vindictive rich bitch. Remember that horrible Time cover of Teresa, asking if she was "crazy like a fox"? Let's see if they give the one who REALLY deserves such treatment, Cindy McCain, the same thing. I'll bet ya dollars to donuts it won't even be close.

And yes, she would, indeed, have been a fantastic first lady and it makes me sick what was done to her.

96. sorry for the misinterpretation
I am likely far too quick to defend Teresa, as the smears against her came to be believed even by some Democrats. Having seen most of the coverage of their book tour, I am amazed at how brilliant and nice she really is. Kerry had the debates, which gave him a chance to dispell some of the lies about him by showing that he was an incredibly intelligent, articulate man with a wealth of knowledge and solutions. She never had a platform to respond from and it is sick that a woman, who has done the things that she has would be treated as she was. It had to be especially hurtful as many of the Republicans were likely people she had known for decades.

97. O.K., but after this (my) post you will probably go back to your previous take
I was a KERRY supporter from Day One of the '04 primaries and this included Teresa, of course.
I based this on my thinking he would wage a powerful street fight to win. Electability.

That said, in the end I was disappointed in his performance. Part of his performace was HER performance. I went to a rally when she came here on her own. We local Dems were out in force and were hysterical with enthusiasm. Guess what. She came out, tried to quiet us down like we were supposed to be in a seminar, and proceeded to read a 45 minute policy speech.

I am talking being IN TOUCH with us UNWASHED, us gritty VOTERS. I have absolutely NO doubt about both of their being great humans and having done maximum public service. But all that will be its own reward for them, because what we need is a good street candidate and a good street candidate wife.

We tried in that rally. At the slightest opportunity we roared. All that would have been needed was a good "SCREW BUSH" from her and the walls would have come down. Despite our pumping and pumping, she never got the message. Or rather, she started getting glimmers of what we wanted from her, because after the middle of her oration, she started peering out over her glasses at us, like it was beginning to dawn on her, but she stayed bewildered.

Other than that, since I like the gossipers who used to be on the E! channel, who happen to be housed at the NY Post, I read Cindy ADAMS, that wingnut who swims the cocktail circuit and is pals with anybody-who's-anybody, Rethug and Dem (the CUOMOs), the oldest-person-named-Cindy is best buds with Teresa, too. When Old-Cindy drops her name it goes something like this, "Guess who was in my kitchen, sitting on the floor, playing with my dog..." If only Teresa had sat on the stage floor and played with us.

O.K., you can go back to slamming me. Tootle-oo.

before he died.............................Perhapos that is the genisus for that marriage. 2 people who know more than the rest of us joined together?
I noticed C McCain's eyes over GHW Bush's left ahoulder on CNN, yesterday. The whites are VERY white, the pupils are small, and they were rolling back up under her upper lids,so that all oucould see was the whites. I gave her a the benifit of doubt, she was tired and fighting to to fall asleep?
But today behind John at the mike, she was also twisting & manipulating her lips nervously. and her responses to what he wa saying were a out of sync.

28. So why are the Bushes endorsing him?
There were rumors in 2000 that "personal matters" were used to get McCain to drop out of the race after a number of typical "Rovian" antics didn't work. Well, it appears maybe the rumors weren't rumors. And this is probably the tip of the iceberg. Cindy McCain may be Mary Poppins on the outside but she is pure Messalina on the inside.

The question is why would they run someone they know the media may be able to literally destroy? Maybe they wanted a candidate to ensure the Democratic candidate won? Assuming it would be Hillary Clinton?

What you see ain't what you get anymore. The flag-wavers in both parties need to wake up. We have been hijacked. By the Republicrats.

The interesting thing is no one counted on Barack Obama. And it seems more and more that unless the Clintons pull a coup with the superdelegates that Barack Obama will be the nominee.

And then the Republicrats are stuck with McCain. Who may win if enough racist Democrats vote for McCain. And we may be stuck with Cindy.

Who may make us all long for the days of Nancy Reagan.

Rome is burning. And while it burns, we are no doubt about to be treated to a "circus maximus" in the race for president.

That they used their influence not just to keep her out of trouble but to try to pin the blame on her employees at her charity, sure says something about the McCains and their ethics.

Now, if Cindy goes and makes some dumb ass statement like all addicts should go to jail, then the gloves are off.

Unless she personally makes statements advocating punishment for actions that she herself committed, I don't see it.

Like I said, there's PLENTY of material on John McCain - compliments of, John McCain.

59. Also, the GOP used this to smear McCain in 1999 primary season.
Too many of us are sounding more and more like the worst of the opposition. Dumb and dumber, what a way to go. I don't mind using stuff if it's actually true, but using it like a bunch of mean mouthed fifth graders is way over the top. There has to be a better way than devolving to the lowest level of GOP tactics. We have learned very little in over two hundred years of political warfare. Method greatly impacts the quality of the product.

86. I know it's true. We just don't need to sound like the National Inquirer.
And like I said, I don't mind using stuff like that, but the approach is important. The message can get lost in the overall nastiness and is more easily dismissed as just picking on little Cindy. It makes us just like they are. Using the politics of slime and smear is a dirty business, and quite frankly, they are better at it than we are. It must be the total lack of conscience and honor. And their base eats that stuff up, ours, not as much. So, if you use it, how you do so is important.

Care for some tea? Sorry no crumpets.

To paraphrase a McCain supporter, how do we nail this bitch Cindy to the wall? I have no sympathy for her, and I hope she is put thru hell, just like her fucking dickhead husband, who left his wife for her, showing how much the Rethugs always care about the "sanctity of marriage". How is this anything except the USA firings in microcosm?
McCain politicized the AZ Justice system to hide crimes and persecute an accuser! This is so "Gonzo!"

" * Cindy McCain lied about drug treatment she claims to have undergone. Although she told reporters she went into a residential drug treatment program earlier this year, she told investigators she had treatment during 1991 and 1992. Whom did she lie to--investigators or reporters?

" * If Cindy McCain did undergo treatment before 1994, as she told investigators, the senator's claim that he didn't learn of his wife's addiction until this January simply defies credibility."

77. I think she's fragile. I worry for her
during this campaign. I realize she's been a political wife for many years now. But this campaign is not going to be the same as a well-respected senator's re-election cakewalk. This is going to be an extremely fractious presidential campaign. And Cindy is likely to get harsh treatment. I mean, Michelle Obama was being criticized today over a real non-troversy. She reiterated her current feeling of pride at being an American and is being castigated for not ALWAYS EVERY SECOND ALL THE TIME being proud to be an American. Ludicrous.

I haven't seen one yet. The Republican wives have really been in the background. What about Huckabee's wife? Or Romney's wife? Personally, I'm more comfortable with women like Elizabeth Edwards who let you know exactly how they feel on the issues. These Nancy Reagan type wives who merely stand and look adoringly at their husbands just seem very dated to me. And not typical of American women.

If there is dirt to dig up on her--especially if she comes from a life of privilege--then someone like CNN or ABC is going to be dishing it. McCain does not have a lock down on the press. He has pissed off the cable industry big time with his attempts at regulating their industry, and the cable industry has its own media mouth pieces, especially CNN but also ABC (Disney).

The RNC needs to schedule this woman for a breakdown STAT to garner some public sympathy. True, it will make her look like a bad first lady candidate, but hey, there is always the Betty Ford Clinic.
